Arsenal will '100%' sell Viktor Gyokeres after worrying Everton footage emerges

Football London · Matty Hewitt

Mikel Arteta's side ran out 2-0 winners over the Toffees at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel, but Gyokeres struggled on his first start of the season.

The Swedish international has fallen down the pecking order, despite scoring 21 goals in all competitions after signing from Sporting last summer, with Kai Havertz given the nod ahead of him in early part of the season.

Agbonlahor felt that Gyokeres looked as though he was 'running in slow motion' in the win over David Moyes' side, and feels the Gunners will cash in on the 28-year-old if the opportunity to sign Julian Alvarez arises.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said; "Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ. Looks like he’s like running in slow motion, isn’t he? Looks like he can’t run.

"Can he hold the ball up? Yes, he can, but he will be one that won’t be at the club next season. Yeah, 100%.

"They would have got rid of him this season if they could have for Alvarez. If Alvarez wanted to come and hadn’t turned Arsenal down, they would have said, ‘I would give you Gyokeres and money’."

Arsenal are understood to be huge admirers of Atletico Madrid forward Alvarez, but will face competition from Barcelona to sign the Argentinian forward.

Alvarez has now be reintegrated into Diego Simeone's first-team after the transfer saga in the summer, where he made it clear he wanted to move to the Nou Camp.

Atleti held firm with their stance that they would not sell to their La Liga rivals, but Arsenal also did not make a move to sign the former Man City star.

Arteta has made it clear that he's still a big fan of Gyokeres, despite only playing 80 minutes of Premier League football prior to the win over Everton.

Speaking about his forward options, the Gunners' boss said: " I love Kai Havertz, I love Viktor Gyökeres a lot. He has a very different character to Kai, but he's someone that you really feel close to.

"He's a very important player for the team, and he will have his chance."
