The 29-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career last term, scoring 10 league goals and registering seven assists.
Wilson is admired by several clubs, including Everton and Villa. However, Unai Emery is known to be targeting a right winger with pace this summer - a different profile to the Wales international.
The former Liverpool attacker has been reluctant to discuss his future publicly and, when speaking in April, insisted that talks over a contract extension would wait until the end of the season.
If Villa were to offer Wilson a deal, it could represent his best opportunity to compete at the highest level, following the club’s qualification for the Champions League.
Before Villa lost at Craven Cottage in April, Wilson praised Emery's team as one of the best teams Fulham have played in the season.
“I’d say that up until now, I think they’ve probably been the toughest opponent we’ve played this season,” he said.
“When we went to Villa Park quite early on in the season, I don’t think they’d won a game yet, but after that we all said what a good team they were."
Villa have a history of signing free agents in recent years, having recruited Victor Lindelof last season, Youri Tielemans in 2023, and Boubacar Kamara in 2022.
Targets for the right wing include Ibrahim Mbaye, Karim Adeyemi, Harvey Barnes, Crysencio Summerville, and Jonathan Rowe, while Marcus Rashford would represent a more ambitious option given his wage demands.
