Why Ewood Park tie will be

Lancashire Telegraph · Dan Barnes

Paul Butler says next week’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final against Burnley is a great opportunity for Rovers’ youngsters to test themselves on the big stage at Ewood Park.

The winner of the tie on Tuesday, March 10 (7pm) will progress to the semi-final of the national competition.

Butler believes it is another important step for his young side as the club aims to continue its proud tradition of producing talent to step up into the senior ranks.

“Come and watch them,” he said. “It’s a really good team, really good set of prospects, some high potential players in there that are future assets for the club, I’m sure.

“Come and give them all the support you can because that is you, as supporters, playing your part in their development, which is an important thing.

“As I say, this club is the supporters’ club, just like any club should be, and we are here to try and develop these players for Blackburn Rovers.

“We say to the players it is all about layers of experience and this is another really important one for them.

“Being players who can perform at home in front of home fans is a really important development for young professional players. So I think it is absolutely essential that they get a little taste of that.”
