Cherries in

MARCO Rose said the Cherries are in a comfortable position for recruitment this summer, and he believes they need players in just one or two positions before the season starts.

The boss said he will sit down after the training camp in Austria with the recruitment team to discuss the squad and which positions need reinforcements, as well as which players may be surplus to requirements.

But until then, Rose is pleased with the players at his disposal.

"We have a lot of stuff to do in the trainings camp and one of these things could be to talk about new players, but again the squad is in good shape," he told the Daily Echo.

"We have enough numbers and we just have to look for one or two positions.

"It's really comfortable to be in this situation."

Rose did make it clear that reinforcements were needed in certain positions.

"I think when I came here, the squad was quite good," he said.

"We have young players, we have a good balance, we have experienced players, we have top players, high-quality players, and we know that we lost Marcos Senesi, so we have to find another left centre-back.

"We already signed Álvaro [Rodriguez] as a striker with huge potential.

"And yeah, we are going to look for a right defender maybe, but the other positions are quite good.

"We have always double positions, so no stress, step by step, and the market, I think, it's going to run next, next weeks."

Rose continued: "The squad is not fixed so far because as we said, as I mentioned it before, we don't know who from these loan players maybe is leaving the club again for loan.

"Of course we are looking for some positions again. We need another centre-back. This is the most important target right now.

"We signed a striker and now we have to replace Marcos. And Marcos had a huge impact on this team because nearly every build-up ran over Marcos.

"And I think [James] Hilly is now in the position to do his next step and to get more dominant in this part of the game.

"And the other guy who we're going to sign or Bafo [Diakite], or Veljko [Milosavljevic] needs to do the next steps to play Premier League and be an option for us."

Two loan players who returned are Julian Araujo and Max Aarons, and with Alex Jimenez leaving on loan for Fiorentina, the pair may get an opportunity to impress Rose and force their way into the team.

Asked about the pair, Rose said: "That's why they are here, that's why they are here and we started with a big group with a lot of loan players who came back.

"For a new coach it's always good to assess them in trainings to see what they are able to do, to see how they work, to get a feeling for them and I think after the training camp, we sit together and have a chat about what we're going to do.

"The squad is quite big now and even the young players should be able to have match time. So we're going to see after the training camp."
