Ballard sets City targets after Birmingham goal wins Championship award

The EFL confirmed on Friday morning that Ballard, 21, had won August's Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month competition, the first of the new campaign, beating Southampton's Cyle Larin, Watford's Amin Nabizada and Blackburn Rovers' Ryoya Morishita to the award.

Ballard was nominated for the award for his spectacular strike against Birmingham City at St Andrew's. Michael Skubala's side drew 2-2 with Blues last month, with a controversial late penalty decision ensuring the hosts were able to snatch a point and deny the Reds their first win of the campaign.
