Chelsea transfer news: Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen to move to Strasbourg on loan

BBC Sport · Man City

Chelsea reporterPublished4 August 2026Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has given his approval to join Strasbourg on season-long loan move.

The 24-year-old has been targeted by the French side's new manager Hugo Oliveira, who wanted a ball-playing goalkeeper after Mike Penders returned to Stamford Bridge after his own loan stint.

The move highlights how the two clubs, both part of the Clearlake-Boehly ownership group known as BlueCo, are developing players but each move needs the final agreement of those involved.

It is understood Jorgensen is now ready to make the switch to the Ligue 1 club in a bid to play more regularly, after struggling to dislodge Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Jorgensen had been training with Chelsea earlier in their pre-season tour but returned to London to resolve his future last week.

Strasbourg also signed Chelsea academy defender Genesis Antwi, 19, on loan on Tuesday.

Among the 14 deals completed between the two clubs are Chelsea's permanent signings of midfielder Valentin Barco, striker Emmanuel Emegha and defender Mamadou Sarr.

Head coach Liam Rosenior also made the switch but lasted less than four months at the London club - with Xabi Alonso taking over as his permanent successor last month.
