City currently have Jay Dasilva and Jake Bidwell as options, with the former Bristol City man having started all but five Championship games last season.

But Longari reckons they like the 26-year-old who came through at Braga before moving to Porto in September 2024, where he signed a contract until 2029 which included a €60 million buy-out clause.

Since then he has made 74 appearances including 32 last season and four starts in the Europa League as the Portuguese outfit’s run was ended by Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals.

City have also been linked with the likes of Chelsea's Axel Disasi, who spent part of last season on loan at West Ham, and Southampton's Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
