Patrick Agyemang's Derby County 'comeback’ begins - all you need to know

Derby Telegraph · Andy Turner

2. The injury occurred in April during a match against Stoke City, when the forward suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon after landing awkwardly. This unfortunate incident took place shortly after a victory, abruptly halting his season.

3. The recovery process was initially projected to last nine months, which regrettably ruled him out of participating in the summer World Cup with the United States Men’s National Team. This was a significant personal setback for the striker.

4. To begin his rehabilitation, Agyemang traveled to America to collaborate with the Roba Physical Therapy and Wellness clinic in Connecticut. The clinic has publicly praised his dedication, highlighting that an “unstoppable comeback” is actively in progress.

5. Now two months post-operation, Agyemang reports that he is adjusting well to the recovery process. He has reached the milestone of walking on his own and has successfully transitioned from wearing a “cyber boot” to regular footwear.

6. Maintaining a patient mindset is central to his recovery plan, as the striker is focused on not rushing his return to professional football. He has found significant peace of mind in the realization that his recovery timeline is flexible rather than being strictly confined to nine months.

7. Agyemang is currently based in East Hartford, Connecticut, where he is surrounded by a strong support system. He is being cared for by his father, as well as his mother and brothers, who work as nurses, providing him with a refreshing break from his busy career.

8. Looking ahead, the striker is determined to regain full fitness and regain his form. He aims to pick up exactly where he left off, building on his successful performance from last season where he netted 10 goals for Derby County.
