It’s a big game for both teams. If Everton can bounce back from last weekend’s devastating Merseyside derby defeat at home to Liverpool, and emerge triumphant in the capital, they would move up to seventh in the table and level on points with sixth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.

But the stakes are just as high for West Ham who know, with third-from-bottom Tottenham Hotspur travelling to already-relegated Wolves, there is a danger they could slip into the drop spots if they fail to pick up three points.

Joe Thomas and Chris Beesley are at the London Stadium to bring you an in-game commentary stream and the best post-match reaction and analysis.

New UpdatesKey EventsHalf-time ratingsView PostHalf-time: West Ham 0-0 EvertonView PostEverton starting line-up: Thierno Barry STARTSView PostToday16:00 BSTWhat will Moyes do?That was a pedestrian first half and there was none of the intensity, or desperation, that I expected from West Ham. Everton, although Summerville is causing issues, look relatively comfortable. They are just missing something going forward and I think replacing McNeil with Dibling or George could offer a way forward here. There is a danger they fall short of helping O'Brien tackle Diouf and Summerville and that is a serious danger. But there is an opportunity here for Everton if they are willing to take it. I'll be intrigued to see what changes Moyes makes and when. I'm also keen to see how West Ham approach this second half because they lacked bite in that first 45 and it surprised me given their plight.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:47 BSTHalf-time ratingsJordan Pickford 6

No saves of note to make as yet, but he’s dealt confidently with everything that has come his way and his distribution has been good.

Bright start, nipping past Crysencio Summerville and picking out Dwight McNeil, he’s looking alert both in and out of possession but was forced to stop Summerville in his tracks and pick up a booking when the West Ham wide man got beyond McNeil.

Vitalii Mykolenko 6

Has got his work cut out up against Hammers’ captain and talisman Jarrod Bowen but he’s holding his own so far and has also got forward on a few occasions.

James Tarkowski 7

Everton’s captain will be hurting after Liverpool’s last-gasp derby winner and he’s been back to his usual dominant self when defending his team’s penalty area.

Michael Keane 7

Having signed a new one-year deal this week, he’s come into the side to replace the injured Jarrad Branthwaite and while he can’t offer the same level of pace, he’s looked solid enough.

Idrissa Gueye 6

While his vast experience is often a great asset, the oldest player in the Everton side has been mostly on the back foot here and looks a bit heavy legged.

Has caught opponents a couple of times to bail out Idrissa Gueye, Everton will be hoping to get him into more creative areas.

Dwight McNeil 6

Continues to get the nod because of his willingness to put in a shift, but it’s been more perspiration than inspiration so far.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 7

Buzzing around, he looked threatening when he and Barry both broke from a West Ham chance but between them, they couldn’t quite find the right combination.

Iliman Ndiaye 6

Working hard on the left wing and demonstrating the graft that also goes with his craft, but we haven’t seen so much of his silky skill so far apart from a dribble into the West Ham area before getting the ball back off McNeil.

Thierno Barry 6

Encouraging to see that he’s at least putting himself about to close opponents down after his lacklustre display off the bench in the derby, but he failed to make the most of a chance on the counter attack from a pass by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:47 BSTHalf-time: West Ham 0-0 EvertonA big escape for Everton as one minute of added time is announced. West Ham come forward and Summerville is given space to collect the ball, turn and feed Bowen down the Everton right. Seriously, he should not be given that freedom. Bowen sends a ball across the face of goal but there is no-one to tap it in. That is a let-off.

It is also half-time.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:45 BSTA bit of innovation could go a long wayTwo quick goals for Liverpool are probably good news for Everton. It is helpful if Villa drop into fifth and if Palace fall out of the running for Europe - even more so if they have nothing to play for in the league when Everton visit Selhurst Park in a few weeks.

A point today would do no harm to Everton's chances of Europe but a win would be massive. It does feel like that is there for them if they can just find a bit of guile. Feels like they are one pass or one turn of pace or one trick away from causing West Ham serious problems.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:41 BSTO'Brien in the book as Summerville threatensFirst notable groans from the home end as West Ham give up the ball too easily in the middle of the pitch. It ends up at the feet of Ndiaye who wriggles into the box and plays a one-two with McNeil that just about comes off. He gets the ball back but never regains his balance and can't find space for a shot.

Summerville attacks down the right, gets the better of McNeil and is taken out by O'Brien for a yellow card that is tough to dispute. He was a threat at Hill Dickinson Stadium and is again today.

West Ham can cross from a dangerous position and do so amid a round of applause for former player Dylan Tombides, who died aged 20 in 2014. His family are here and raising awareness of cancer in this fixture.

The cross is a poor one and straight at Pickford. The end of the applause is met with a roar from the home end and they put together a few crosses, the last of which is headed into the air by Keane and collected by Pickford.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:36 BSTBarry forces the first save of the gameEverton do now attack down that side and O'Brien wins a throw-in deep in West Ham territory. Diouf hits the ground claiming an arm in the face and spends a while on the ground but doesn't require treatment. The long throw is flicked on, I think by Barry, but drops to the feet of a defender who clears.

Everton come again though and Barry tries with his left foot from 25 yards. A pretty tame effort but the first on goal, I think from either side.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:34 BSTDiouf almost gets free down the rightNo goals in the opening 30 minutes of any of the 3pm Premier League kick-offs. Status quo being maintained as it stands.

Diouf threatens to get clear down the Everton right but runs the ball out of play and wastes what, looking at the replay, was a good chance to cause Everton a serious problem. That combination of Summerville and Diouf is, I think, where the danger lies for Everton.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:32 BSTTwo teams playing within themselves?Gueye muscles Walker-Peters off the ball as he attempts to underlap Bowen down the Everton left. Home supporters want a free-kick in what would be a dangerous crossing position but ref Stuart Attwell waves play on. That could have been given.

Gueye plays the ball forward but the attack comes to nothing.

Pockets of the stadium trying to lift West Ham but there is a general lack of intensity out there - I think maybe a caution. Feels like both sides playing within themselves.

Away end now try to get Everton's players going.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:28 BSTFinely poised in the capital but this is an opportunity for EvertonJoe Thomas joining the blog now with this game finely poised. Everton looked quit comfortable and they have seen nothing to fear in the opening 20 minutes, with the exception of Summerville's pace and skill. They have had two great opportunities on the counter too, and just were not quite able to turn good moves into good chances.

The game has become a bit messier, as Chris wrote above, and I am not sure who that helps. It has exposed Everton's lack of pace going forward though - I think had they had a bit more then those two breakaways would have been easier to convert.

West Ham having a few moments but the team and the supporters alos a bit subdued - I expected the opening 20 minutes to be a full on assault from the home team. It hasn't been like that. That might be intended by Nuno Espirito Santo, maybe he wants to draw the away side onto his own. That might not be a bad tactic.

The crowd is at its loudest of the game so far as Mavrapanos cuts out a ball to Ndiaye and sends Summerville running at the defence. He gets to the byline but his cross goes out of play.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday15:24 BSTFirst corner comes to noughtEverton have their first corner-kick of the game but the ball doesn't drop for them.

Then Mykolenko has to cut out a West Ham counter that goes out for a throw-in before McNeil completes the clearance.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:22 BSTAll a bit messyMcNeil concedes a free-kick when bringing down opposite number Summerville.

The West Ham fans get quite excited but Fernandes can't get the delivery right and Jordan Pickford waves the ball out for a goal kick.

It's all got a bit messy these last few minutes. Can Everton get back to producing a bit of quality?

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:17 BSTEverton chance on the counterWest Ham just put Everton under some pressure with a brace of corners in quick succession but the visitors broke with what looked like a dangerous counter-attack.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall tried to play through a diagonal pass to Barry but the pair of them couldn't get it quite right.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:14 BSTSoucek heads overSummerville escapes Gueye's attentions and James Garner is forced to concede a free-kick in a dangerous position.

The delivery is played up to Tomas Soucek - so often Everton's nemesis in previous fixtures between these sides - but the Czech midfielder heads over the bar.

Meanwhile, down at the other end, McNeil puts a lofted delivery across the face of goal that Barry tries to meet with an overhead kick but fails to make contact.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:09 BSTHalf a chance for EvertonHalf a chance for Everton.

A pass from Ndiaye to Mykolenko isn't the best but the left-back wins a throw-in off a deflection which he takes himself and Barry delivers a back header across the face of goal.

Everton have started this game quite brightly and as Joe has observed to me, the home fans have been quiet.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:05 BSTImpressive from O'BrienAn early turn of pace from Jake O'Brien to get past Crysencio Summerville.

Impressive stuff from 'The Cork Cafu.' He then lays the ball off to Dwight McNeil but the winger can't get a shot in.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:02 BSTEarly energy from BarryThe ball was played back to West Ham keeper Mads Hermansen from the kick-off and straightaway there is a determined closing down from Thierno Barry.

The Everton striker knows he needs to impress the fans and his manager today.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday15:01 BSTKick-offWest Ham United's Mateus Fernandes gets us underway.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday14:59 BSTApplause for MoyesAs always, the Everton supporters are a long way from the action here at London Stadium but a section of West Ham United fans close to the dugout gave David Moyes a round of applause as he waved to them before taking his seat on the away bench.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday14:55 BSTMoyes watches onEverton manager David Moyes pictured on the pitch ahead of his first return to London Stadium since he departed West Ham United.

As mentioned earlier, it's the Blues boss' 63rd birthday today and also his 750th Premier League match as a manager so hopefully he can lead Everton's players to victory on this landmark occasion.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday14:50 BSTWarming upEverton's players have been pictured warming up - although it's hot enough already in the capital today - ahead of their game against West Ham United.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday14:49 BSTOne eye on MolineuxI think it will be really interesting to see how events at Wolves impact this tie. If Spurs were to go ahead with this game in the balance, this place could get quite anxious and that might help Everton.

CommentsJoe ThomasToday14:46 BSTStats magicHere are some West Ham United v Everton statistics courtesy of Gavin Buckland.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday14:42 BSTWhat does Alan Shearer think about Everton's chances? So, what do we think will happen?

Well, Alan Shearer is predicting a draw - this is what he has to say on the big game, the Premier League winner telling Betfair:

Grosvenor Sport, meanwhile have West Ham has favourites, pricing them at 11/8 and Everton at 39/20

CommentsJoe ThomasToday14:37 BSTStage is set for a heroI'm sure you will get tired of us saying this, but it is a gorgeous day here in East London. The pitch looks sublime from the press seats which, like most in this stadium, are miles from the action.

Both sides are warming up down in the distance, Everton engaged in group work in two sets, the starting outfield players in one and the subs in the other.

This feels like a game where the Blues' bench could be crucial. I keep saying this, maybe out of hope of willing it into action, but the stage is set for someone like a Tyrique George or Tyler Dibling (or maybe Thierno Barry) to have a breakthrough moment in their fledgeling Everton careers. Barry, arguably, has had some of those. I think he needs another one though.

CommentsChris BeesleyToday14:29 BSTAll over at Craven CottageAnd Fulham have beaten Aston Villa 1-0.

That means Everton slip to 11th, one point behind Fulham and their west London rivals Brentford and Chelsea.

CommentsPaul WheelockToday14:22 BSTUp for the battle?I'm not sure what's going on here as Everton's players took to the London Stadium pitch a short while ago.

It looks like James Garner is trying to have a bit of a play-fight with Harrison Armstrong.
