'Unbelievable' King impresses Arbeloa in Fulham's derby defeat - West London Sport

Alvaro Arbeloa praised the “unbelievable” Josh King after Fulham’s frantic 3-2 loss to Chelsea.

King scored his third goal for the club, equalising for Arbeloa’s side after they had conceded a goal in the first minute against Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea.

King was a standout performer in a frenzied first half, and Gonzalo Garcia scored on his debut for the Whites in the second.

New boss Arbeloa called on his other attacking players to contribute to goals this season.

“We need goals for sure. I think every team needs goals and not just from Gonzalo,” he said.

“I have been talking all summer with Josh King. What a player we have here. Amazing. What a player. Unbelievable. But I knew his talent. “With talent and with quality, this type of player is not enough, they need to make numbers – like Joshua, Oscar, or like Sessegnon and Kevin, who are really young players with a lot of talent.

“But they need to score goals because, at the end, it’s the most important thing in football and I hope they can score many goals this season.”

Fulham conceded some soft goals in their Premier League opener – a far from ideal start to Arbeloa’s reign, but they also could have scored more.

“I think we’ll keep improving and we’ll take time,” he said. “But it’s the first game of the season.

“I saw tonight the energy that I want to see, the hybrid that we want to make, and like I said to my players – we are going to play in this way and we are going to try to play in this way no matter who is in front of us.”
