Leeds’ last visit to the national stadium infamously came during the 2024 play-off final defeat to Southampton, who play Manchester City in the other semi-final on Saturday. Gnonto - who played 66 minutes that day - has not started a game since the fourth round 3-0 win over Norwich City in March.
In fact, his only starts since the start of December have been in the FA Cup, also getting the nod against Derby County - against whom he scored - and Birmingham City. Gnonto scored one of the spot-kicks in the penalty shoot-out win over West Ham in the quarter-finals after starting the game on the bench.
He described winning that match as one of his greatest moments in a Leeds shirt and envisions that the scenes upon kick-off on Sunday will be “amazing”. He added: “Last time [at full-time], that wasn't too nice. So hopefully we can give a good memory to our supporters, to ourselves.”
