Russell Martin can't hide his emotions after Leicester City draw
Leicester City manager Russell Martin couldn't hide his frustrations after watching his side only manage a draw at Barnsley in the club's latest League One clash.
The Foxes had led through an early Liam Cullen goal and had looked on course for three points before Reye Cleary's equaliser for the Tykes.
Martin wasn't happy with the display, given that Barnsley were down to ten men halfway through the first-half, afterwards he spoke to the media to give his thoughts.
“I’m so frustrated that we don’t win the game, I’m so disappointed,” Martin confessed after the game.“With the amount of chances we created, the amount of times we were in the box. We started the game so well when it was 11 vs. 11.
“We cut through them a lot and played some good football, but none of it matters because we don’t win. We played against 10 men for so long. I can’t come out and say I’m really happy with some of the stuff we played.
“The final action in the box, so many players get a chance to really show a moment of quality and that last moment was not good enough. It’s really frustrating because we should be here celebrating a good win.”
“We had better chances today than last week, but we didn’t take them,” he continued. “And when you don’t, we make one mistake in the middle of the pitch and get punished for it.
“Their guy, Cleary, who is in really good form, I think we have 10 of his actions where he scores the goal and we don’t do anything and he scores it. Ultimately, that’s why we draw the game.
“It’s that last little bit. I said to the players, it’s so frustrating because however you get there, whether we choose to do it in a certain way or another way, it’s not normal to have 50 touches in the box away from home, regardless of if it’s against 10 men.
“We don’t finish. Decision making, final execution, that’s the last bit that takes quality and big courage and we didn’t have enough in the final third.
“We’ve dropped two points and I can’t be any more honest than that.”
