Released Leicester City star signs for new club and completes shock reunion

Jordan Ayew has joined Championship side Sheffield United on a one-year deal after leaving Leicester City this summer.

The Ghana international left the Foxes at the end of his contract after playing 80 times for the club. He scored 12 goals over the course of two seasons and suffered two relegations.

After representing his nation at the World Cup in the summer, Ayew has been without a club and had been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers over the weekend. However, he has instead signed for Chris Wilder's side on a short-term deal.

"I'm really, really pleased to be here," Ayew said. "The manager and the club made a great effort to get me here as quick as possible, so I want to thank everyone for their support and for them to bring me over to the Blades and hopefully we'll have a great season.

"It reminds me a bit of where I was a few years ago and that was obviously Palace, so a bit similar. I really like it and I'm really looking forward to the season and getting to know more about the club as well. It happened really, really quick because I was in Ghana and the manager called me last week.

"I didn't think twice, I just took the opportunity, and the most important thing is for me to help the team and obviously for us to have a great season. I have a lot of desire this season to make an impact and to help the team because we have a good squad and there's a lot of positive things we can do."
