Jamie Vardy announces new role as Leicester City legend drops retirement hint

The striker is set to leave Italian side Cremonese at the end of his current contract this month following their relegation from Serie A. Vardy's deal had included the option to extend by a further year if they had remained in the top flight.

No news has come regarding his future in football, with the 39-year-old previously insisting he would know when the time has come to retire. Now, after his Netflix documentary of his time at Leicester and ITV three-part series aired, Vardy has taken his next step.

Posting on Instagram, Vardy confirmed he is starting his own podcast. The show will be hosted by the former Foxes star and will provide new episodes weekly, the Instagram account biography has confirmed.

The trailer for the video included the setting being covered with images of his playing days with wife Rebekah coming in and questioning what he was doing. "You wait to see what I've got coming," he said when asked what it was all for.

Vardy's podcast announcement comes just days after Rebekah seemingly shut down any hope of a return to the King Power Stadium. The striker scored 200 goals in 500 games for the Foxes before leaving at the end of the 2024/25 season.

He sparked a theory among City fans behind why he left the club in the ITV documentary 'The Vardys'. When asked if it felt weird having just one game left for the club, the 2016 Premier League title winner provided an insight into why he left the club.

"Nope. I’ll be honest, I know it sounds really weird, but I made my decision, made it personally as well," he said. "It was nothing to do with me against the club [or the] club against me, I weren't happy, just not happy."

Just days later, his wife sparked further questions when she was asked during a Q&A if she would invite Jon Rudkin to a family BBQ, in which she responded with: "Nope!" Another then asked whether she would invite Susan Whelan, who left her role as CEO after 15 years in October, in which she said: "Absolutely."
