With City's fate sealed, there's unlikely to be much joy to be had in the crowd, and that's if fans even turn up, with interest likely to be low for what is a meaningless fixture for Gary Rowett's side.
That's not at all the case for Millwall though, as they push to secure automatic promotion and their first-ever season in the Premier League.
With Millwall fighting for points, Rowett may not change his side as much as would be hoped, with youngsters more likely to get their chance on the final day.
We will be live at the King Power Stadium on Friday night to bring you updates and analysis. Kick-off is at 8pm, with team news due at 6.45pm.
New UpdatesKey EventsGoal. Millwall equaliseView PostGOAL!!! It's Souttar!View PostTeam news: Souttar starts amid four changesView Post24th Apr23:21 BSTYou knew reaction Winks would get - did it cross your mind not to select him?GR: “The challenge we had tonight is that he’s our only number six you can play through the lines with and you can keep possession with.
“My job is to pick the strongest team I had available from a football perspective. I understand it wasn’t a popular choice. Bringing him on the other day wasn’t necessarily that. But for the league, I have to pick the best team available.
“If I’m here long term, certain cultural things wouldn’t happen anyway. But when you need to finish the season, you have make those decisions from a footballing perspective.”
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr23:18 BSTWould it have made a difference if Souttar had been fit?GR: “You could see what a difference he’d have made. I think he’d have made a difference to the season. I think he’d have made a difference in the games. We’ve conceded a lot of set-piece goals this year, a lot of basic goals with balls in the box that we haven’t defended. Someone like that would definitely help with that.
“Him and Jannik, they do have that aerial presence. There are certain other things that perhaps would be harder to do that Ben and Caleb could do. But those two will go and compete in the duels. I thought they did that really well.”
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr23:15 BSTWhat did you say to Souttar beforehand?GR: “When he’s not played for so long, it’s difficult to risk someone who’s not played for so long when you’ve got two fit centre-halves. It was difficult to get him in the team before now.
“The easy narrative is that he’s played so well, why didn’t we put him in four days ago? But that would have been a risk.
“He asked to travel about four games ago. He asked to be a part of the group even if he’s not in the squad so he could feel that matchday buzz, feel part of the team and get around all of us. That said an awful lot about him as a character.
“I gave him his full debut so I know all about his qualities. I’m really pleased for him. It’s a little highlight in a game when there’s not been many positives in recent weeks. I thought he was a huge positive this evening.”
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr23:11 BSTRowett on gameGR: “It was always going to be a tough evening, with our fate sealed on Tuesday. I was wondering how we would respond and how we would perform. We spoke quite candidly about the need to be professional and the need to make sure we did our jobs at the very least.
“I felt first half was an indicator of Millwall wanting the game a little more. They ran with a little more energy and intensity at times. They didn’t create many opportunities on the back of it and I felt it was reasonably even without being overly pleased with it.
“We made a few tweaks at half-time, we made a few substitutions during the second half. We had more energy and more fight about the performance.
“The goal sums it up. I spoke about having more bloody-mindedness to score some scruffier goals in one box and defend the other box better. Harry Souttar summed that up tonight. He headed everything out of our box. He showed real desire along with Jannik. In the other box, he attacks it like there’s only one person who was going to score. We’ve missed that.
“For someone to give us that after being out for 450-odd days is quite incredible, and for him to play for 98 minutes. I had the medical and performance team almost begging me at 75 minutes to take him off but he just kept heading the next ball out and it was almost impossible to take him off.
“Some elements of it, I’m satisfied, but it’s hard to say I’m really pleased with the performance. We had to do our job tonight and at the very least we made it competitive.
“We made a mistake in the 90th minute, which has happened too often this season.”
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:58 BSTFTFull-time: City 1-1 MillwallIt's all over. City end the game by forcing Patterson into two saves with shots from Winks and Page from distance, but they're comfortable for the Millwall goalkeeper.
That's a decent showing from City given the circumstances. Reaction to follow.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:54 BST90+5 minAluko onHe replaces Daka and goes to the left wing. Mavididi goes up front.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:52 BST90+3 minIt's all MillwallAzeez should make it 2-1 but he shoulders, rather than heads, a cross and Stolarczyk catches.
Then Souttar deflects a shot over.
City have five minutes to hold out.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:50 BST90+1 minGoal. Millwall equaliseIt's Langstaff with it. The ball is flicked around the corner, with Langstaff found in the box in space, and he drills the ball into the bottom corner.
Eight minutes of added time to play.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:48 BST89 minCity holding firm for nowThere have been no Millwall chances yet.
City have been doing well to keep them up the other end of the pitch for most of these last 10 minutes.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:37 BST78 minGOAL!!! It's Souttar!It's the big centre-back on his return!
What a moment that is! Monga finds Thomas down the left and he clips in a great cross to the back post.
Souttar attacks it, rising above two Millwall men to bundle the ball in.
It's the kind of scrappy goal that Rowett has been after.
James does get a chance to play for City again. He's on for the last 10 minutes for Skipp. Mavididi replaces Fatawu.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:36 BST77 minChance for CitySkipp plays it over the top to Fatawu and he tees up Page on the edge of the box but he slips as he takes his shot and it's blocked.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:33 BST74 minOh so closeNeghli sends a ball across the six-yard box and somehow none of the sliding Millwall attackers or City defenders get a touch on it.
Just moments before, City had a decent chance when Fatawu got past his man, but he over-hit his cross.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:29 BST69 minMillwall pressure growingAs you'd expect, Millwall are pushing that little bit more now, and City are at risk of being penned in.
We did just see a lovely piece of skill from Page though to turn away from his man and draw a foul and yellow card.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:19 BST61 minDouble subThere are big cheers for Page and Monga as they replace De Cordova-Reid and Mukasa.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:17 BST58 minGreat save againIt's Stolarczyk to the rescue again for City.
Azeez crosses from the Millwall right and Ballo rises above Choudhury at the back post to direct a header goalwards.
He gets good power on it, but Stolarczyk stretches out a hand and tips over.
Millwall have definitely upped the intensity.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:11 BST50 minHuge save by StolarczykMillwall cross from their left, Neghli lays it back to Ivanovic, who shoots from six yards out, with Stolarczyk diving across and saving with his leg. That's fine goalkeeping.
City look to break but Fatawu is brought down by Cooper and that's a red card shout. It's high and studs up onto Fatawu's shin.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr21:05 BST46 minBack up and runningNo changes at the break.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:50 BSTHTHalf-time: City 0-0 MillwallIt's been a bizarrely low-intensity game given the importance of the fixture for Millwall.
There have not been many chances, probably one decent opening a piece for each side, for Leonard and Thomas.
But City have marshalled their box well. Souttar's having a good game.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:46 BST45 minFour minutes addedThere's some momentum building for City all of a sudden.
The crowd are growing in volume.
Daka's pressing is setting the tone.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:44 BST44 minEasing towards half-timeWe've had 14 shots, 10 for Millwall, four for City, but none on target so far.
It's not been an exciting match.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:37 BST37 minEven gameCity have definitely come back into it and are having their fair share of the play.
It's been very limited on goalmouth action though.
Given how important this match is for them, Millwall have perhaps lacked a little intensity.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:29 BST28 minClose for City! They work it well and Skipp gets into the box and crosses low, with Thomas getting into an advanced position and looking to score for the second game in a row.
But Leonard dives in front of him to block.
Meanwhile, he have another stoppage after Souttar's elbow catches Ivanovic in the face. There's a lot of blood.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:24 BST24 minSouttar makes big blockThat's two in a matter of a few minutes for the big Aussie.
For the second, Choudhury's giveaway leads to a chance for Leonard, who blasts at goal from the angle. The linesman doesn't see it, but the flicks off Souttar's forehead to divert it into the side-netting.
The Millwall fans thought it was in.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:18 BST18 minMillwall on topSouttar and Vestergaard are marshalling the box well and so there's not been much joy for Millwall there, but they are definitely on top of the two teams right now.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:12 BST12 minMillwall go closeCity fail to deal with a cross and it's nodded into the danger area by Ivanovic.
De Norre is there to hit it but Vestergaard steps in the way to block.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:10 BST10 minCoburn goes offHe can't continue after that early challenge with Choudhury. It looks like he's hurt his hip.
Ivanovic, who City were linked with last summer, comes on.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:07 BST7 minGood spellVestergaard plays a nice pass into Mukasa's feet and City end up working the ball to Thomas, who crosses low.
It's blocked, but comes out to Mukasa, who effort is charged down. It was decent football though.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:04 BST3 minBig tackle from ChoudhuryA dinked ball beats the City defence and Coburn is in, but Choudhury races across and makes an excellent challenge to touch the ball away as the Millwall striker goes to hit it.
Coburn is now down receiving treatment. Choudhury does well to get straight back up as he took a whack to the calf.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr20:00 BST1 minKick-offThe teams have swapped ends so City will attack the Kop in the first half.
A plane with a 'King Power Out' banner has just flown overhead.
CommentsJordan Blackwell24th Apr19:58 BSTPlayers on the pitchThe boos for the players aren't quite as loud as they were on Tuesday, but they can still be heard as the players' name are read out.
Winks, unsurprisingly, got the loudest boos.
The stands are about half-full.
