The Reds have suffered a disappointing campaign with Champions League qualification still not mathematically secured ahead of the final game at home to Brentford on Sunday.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has detailed recruiting fast attackers will be a priority during the summer with club legend Mohamed Salah leaving at the end of the season.
Mane has been impressive for a struggling Wolves this season having broken into the first team as an 18-year-old, and former Molineux boss Paul Lambert - a Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund - believes the youngster would be a success at Anfield.
"I think if everybody's being truthful here, Mateus Mane will want to stay in the Premier League," he said.
"Rob Edwards will have a fight on his hands to try and keep him, as we know. Rob will be saying he's going to stay, but upstairs, the money talks really.
"If one of the big guns, especially Liverpool, comes in, he'd really not want to turn that down. If he went to Liverpool, he'd be an asset there."
Speaking to Casinostugan, Lambert said: "It's another tough one because I love Wolves. Wolves is a brilliant football club. I absolutely loved my time there, even though it was a short time. I love my time there.
"If they do lose him, it's a blow. But they'll rebuild again with the money. And the best chance Wolves are going to have to come back up is their first year. They're going to have to come back up again. Can you keep players like him? I would say probably not."
