Man City could break six transfer records in the next seven days

Anderson became the club's most expensive player when he signed from Forest earlier this summer, smashing the £100m City paid for Jack Grealish in 2021. With Rodri and Bernardo Silva both departing, the club had lined up Anderson for months and were able to beat off competition from Manchester United and others to land their primary target.

Savinho's move to Tottenham Hotspur has also given the club a record sale. That honour did belong to Julian Alvarez when Atletico bought him for an initial £64m rising to £81m in 2023, but the Brazilian winger has now moved to North London for £75m rising to £85m.

To get it, it's a simple one-two punch.

In spite of that, City are still likely to end the window with more money on incomings than outgoings. Deals for Ayyoub Bouaddi and Allan will take the Blues to more than £250m of spending - well beyond their previous record of around £217m - and they could yet threaten the record for the biggest spend by any Premier League club.

That was set by Liverpool last summer as they splashed out £446m in a spend that went disastrously wrong for them. City are pushing for Enzo Fernandez and the fee Chelsea want for him would move City's total close to £400m if they are able to complete a deal.

More additions are required though to carry out the club's plan for the transfer window with a forward and at least one more midfielder still on the shopping list. Anything like a spend of £70m on a minimum of two players could see City break not just their club records for individual and total purchases and sales, but also the league records for total purchases and sales.
