Los Blancos qualified for the Champions League round of 16 after beating Benfica 3-1 on aggregate in the play-offs.

Alvaro Arbeloa could have as many as seven first-team players missing today. City have a mostly fully fit squad with Josko Gvardiol the only long-term absentee. Erling Haaland, who was rested for the FA Cup victory over Newcastle United, returned to training on Tuesday and is in the Blues' travelling squad.

City also have the advantage of playing the second leg at home. They beat Madrid 2-1 in the league phase of the competition earlier this season.

MEN Sport has taken a look at Real's latest injury news.

Mbappe returned to training on Monday but was only taking part in solo drills. He was also pictured in training on Tuesday but was not spotted with the rest of his teammates. When asked about the Frenchman's availability, Arbeloa said: "He’s much better.

"As I’ve mentioned over the past weeks, it’s a day-to-day process to see how he evolves. This entire week has been very positive, and he’s returned with great sensations. Every day he’s getting better, and we’re expecting him back very soon."
