Millwall: New long-term contract for left-back Zak Sturge

BBC Sport · World Cup

Millwall defender Zak Sturge has signed a new long-term contract to commit his future to the club.

Sturge, 22, joined the Lions from Chelsea in February 2025, initially on loan before making the move permanent last summer.

He has made 60 appearances for Alex Neil's team, scoring once and the left-back has featured in every match this season.

"When he first came in from Chelsea, he had to be patient, but he worked hard and played his way into the team," director of football Steve Green told the club's website, external.

"His progress in the last 18 months has been excellent. Zak is a strong, disciplined, consistent player and person. We're very pleased to reward him a new, long-term contract."

Millwall, who have not revealed the length of Sturge's new deal, are 12th in the Championship following a 2-2 home draw with Lincoln City.
