Chronicle's Kevin Keegan tribute available for order online

Known affectionately in these parts as King Kev, Keegan was a Newcastle United legend as both player and manager. He has inspired generations in Newcastle and across the wider North East, and continues to be held in such deep esteem that a sea of floral tributes and football shirts has appeared this week outside St James' Park.

Earlier today we paid our own respects at what has become a very powerful and emotive shrine to a legend. I visited St James' Park with a wreath from all of us at the Chronicle, Journal and the Chronicle Sunshine Fund, which Keegan kindly supported during his time at Newcastle and afterwards. It is a very moving experience seeing all the tributes, with fans looking at them in reverent silence as a city comes together in grief.

Keegan died surrounded by his family at the age of 75, following a battle with cancer. In the hours and days following his passing, heartfelt tributes have poured in and we captured these in a dedicated tributes article here. Chronicle journalists also penned their own memories of and tributes to King Kev, with Lee Ryder commenting on how Kevin Keegan inspired a generation and etched his name into Newcastle folklore, and John Gibson writing that Kevin Keegan was ours - no-one loved Special K like Newcastle United.
