14 players who could leave Newcastle United this summer as part of big shake-up

Chronicle Live · Stuart Jamieson

With contracts up, speculation over the futures of some top stars, and a squad which needs refreshing, there is set to be plenty of changes at St James' Park before the end of August.

Many in the current squad face an uncertain future, with only a small number assured of being part of the squad next term.

Of course not all of the players below will leave the club - United couldn't cope with such a big turnaround given they would all have to be replaced in the squad.

However, with interest in top stars, some definitely leaving and others potentially surplus to requirements depending on who comes in, here are 14 players who could heading out of St James' Park this summer.

Potential price tag: £90m

United have stressed the winger has not asked to leave, nor has shown any indication of not being happy at St James' Park, but talk of an exit have grown this week. German giants Bayern Munich are said to be interested, while Arsenal have long admired the winger.

Liverpool are looking for a Mo Salah replacement this summer, and while Gordon prefers the other flank, he is said to be a boyhood Reds fan. He won't be allowed to leave for anything less than £80-90m, meaning United will double their money they paid to Everton, should he go.

Potential price tag: £90m

It was back in February that talk of a potential exit arose for Tonali, with his agent discussing options for the summer. Howe has been keen to stress that the player himself is only focused on Newcastle, but while Arsenal interest is said to have waned, there have been links with the likes of Man City and Real Madrid.

Missing out on the World Cup was a big blow for Tonali but while a return to Italy is off the cards at this stage, it wouldn't be a surprise if United's resolve was tested on the midfielder.

Potential price tag: £70-80m

The England full-back is yet to sign a new contract with the Magpies, prompting speculation on offers from elsewhere. Man City are known to be big fans and are looking to Livramento to solve their right-back problems, while Arsenal are also in the market for a full-back.

With Kieran Trippier leaving, United will not want to lose another right-back but could find it hard to turn down an offer north of £80m.

Potential price tag: £70m

Talk that Manchester United were keen on Newcastle's skipper was quickly dismissed, but he remains a player who will attact interest. However, at 28, it may be that the Magpies talisman feels the chance of a big-money move has gone, and he is fully focused on Newcastle. He has been a huge miss during this injury lay-off, but will be vital in helping to rebuild the side.

Potential price tag: £70-80m

This would be a tough to take as, along with Bruno, he has been Newcastle's most consistent performer this season. Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be interested, but with no left-back options behind Hall, United will hold out for the maximum price.

He will get the chance to impress for England at the World Cup, which will further ampllfy his talents, but United are likely to rebuff interest at this stage.

The Swiss defender is racing to fit before the end of the season, but with his contract due to expire, there's a chance he has played his last game for the club.

With centre-back cover already thin on the ground, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if a new deal was agreed, with Schar again proving this season he is far from over-the-hill.

Potential price tag: £50m

Could Newcastle be ready to cash-in on their record signing already? While it's not worked out as anyone would have liked, Woltemade remains a talent, if United can unlock his best position.

Can he play in the high-paced Premier League, or would a return to Germany be preferrable? It depends on whether anyone is willing to offer Newcastle an acceptable transfer fee - and who they can bring in up front this summer.

Potential price tag: £30m

While the DR Congo striker has endured a nightmare first season on Tyneside, the truth is they will not get anywhere near the £55m them paid Brentford for his services last August.

Wissa won't be happy with a bench role, especially with very few minutes in the last few months, but finding the right deal will be very difficult. Any new additions to the forward line could speed his exit, but United will have to cut their losses.

Potential price tag: £20m

The former Arsenal midfielder is said to be potentially available this summer, with Crystal Palace and Fulham previously expressing an interest. Again, United will have to replace him in the squad, and if Tonali leaves, that will mean two midfielders needed.

Willlock has shown flashes of his best form this term, but with Jacob Ramsey and Lewis Miley now ahead of him in the pecking order, he could look for more first-team football at this stage of his career.

Potential price tag: £30m

The Denmark international came close to leaving last summer, while a January move to Eintracht Frankfurt was also mooted. United are not interested in any loan deal, but could be tempted to sell if the price was right, with a host of Bundesliga clubs tracking his progress. Goals against Man United and Palace have done Osula's value no harm.

Potential price tag: Loan expired

The goalkeeper will return to Southampton when his loan deal expires at the end of the season and, at this stage, it doesn't appear than any permanent move is forthcoming.

While he has taken over from Nick Pope as first-choice goalkeeper, United are thought to be keen to sign a new No 1 this summer, meaning Ramsdale's chances of regular gametime will again diminish.

The Saints are hoping to return to the Premier League, and Ramsdale could step back into the keeper slot at St Mary's.

One of few players who's future is certain, in that he has confirmed he will leave Newcastle when his contract expires. The former England man has plenty of options as he assesses what will likely be the final move of an illustrious career, but his exit does mean United may be less willing to part with Tino Livramento.

Another who is set to leave, Krafth has barely featured this season after undergoing an operation on his knee. Brought in by Steve Bruce, the Swede has played an important role as a squad player, but with his contract up, he is expected to be allowed to depart in the coming months.

Potential price tag: Free

The left-back has impressed on loan at Middlesbrough and has said he doesn't expect to return to Newcastle. The Teessiders are keen to sign him on a permanent basis, but there has been interest from Leeds United and Everton.
