How did City boss Clement fare in Manager of the Month race?

Eastern Daily Press · By Connor Southwell

Philippe Clement has missed out on the Championship manager of the month award for a second successive month despite Norwich City's impressive form.

The Belgian was nominated for February's award after leading City to four wins from five matches and progression into the FA Cup fifth round, but the panel have handed the accolade to Southampton's Tonda Eckert.

Clement again comes up empty-handed, with Millwall's Alex Neil and Coventry boss Frank Lampard also nominated, but Eckert's turnaround at St Mary's has been recognised. The Saints took one more point than the Canaries and went unbeaten to move back into play-off contention.

It means the wait for a City boss to win the accolade continues. The last time it was awarded to a Norwich manager/head coach was Daniel Farke back in 2018. Nigel Worthington (December 2005) and Neil (on two occasions: February 2015 and September 2016) are the other Canaries coaches to claim the trophy.

Clement has transformed City's fortunes, having inherited a precarious situation in November with the club sitting on just nine points. A run of eight wins in their last 10 league games has pushed them clear of the Championship dropzone, up to 15th, eight points clear of the bottom three.
