Men in Black - the best snaps from City

Eastern Daily Press · By Connor Southwell

Norwich City proved that black really is a flattering colour as they cruised to a 3-0 win in their new away kit against St Gallen.

The Canaries marked the release of their new away kit with a convincing win in Switzerland, courtesy of Jacob Wright’s curling free kick, Paris Maghoma’s cheeky lob and Ruairi McConville’s looping header.

There was also the first sight of new signing Andre Brooks, plus the returns of Ben Chrisene and Amankwah Forson as they continue to step up after fitness setbacks.

There were also outings for more young players as Dylan Jones, Zach Baumann and Vatan Ozcan continued to be handed opportunities among the wider squad - their challenge is to try and stay the course, building towards the new campaign.

This victory, against a side preparing for a Europa League qualifier against Benfica, feels like a statement, underlining how Philippe Clement is pushing the limits within this Canaries squad. With more players still to return before West Brom visit Carrow Road at the start of the Championship campaign next month, there is further room for growth.

But the work continues at pace. Next up is a six-day training camp in London, including a friendly against AFC Wimbledon and a behind-closed-doors clash with Premier League side Fulham.

That camp is likely to see returns for some of City’s World Cup contingent – including Kenny McLean, Anis Ben Slimane and Jose Cordoba – with others, such as Papa Amadou Diallo, also expected to step up their work on the training pitch.

Norwich travel back from Switzerland on Saturday and move into the second half of their pre-season schedule, all building towards the competitive opener against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup on Saturday, 8 August.
