Nottingham Forest dealt 'very bad' injury news as update on duo provided

The wide man was forced off late on in the Reds’ 1-0 Europa League victory over Porto on Thursday night. He had been brought on at half-time against the Portuguese outfit but was limping badly by the time he made way.

He was then not in the match squad for this afternoon’s 4-1 thumping of Burnley and was seen at the City Ground using crutches. Head coach Vitor Pereira said afterwards there is a question mark over whether Hudson-Odoi will be involved in the club’s remaining games of the campaign.

“It is a serious injury. It was very bad news for us,” Pereira said. “He had a scan and now it is trying to understand if it is possible for him to recover before the end of the season.”

Striker Chris Wood had sustained a whack to the knee against Porto, while centre-back Murillo had also picked up a knock during the game. Both started against the Clarets, but the latter came off injured.

Murillo appeared to signal to his hamstring when he pulled up shortly before half-time. He was replaced by Jair Cunha as Forest came from behind to claim a crucial win.

Asked about Murillo, Pereira said: “I don’t know. I spoke to him and he said he thinks it is not serious. I hope.”

The Reds went in at half-time a goal behind on the banks of the Trent. But a 15-minute hat-trick from Morgan Gibbs-White in the second half turned the game on its head, while Igor Jesus added a final flourish to the scoreline in added time.

The three points moved Pereira’s side five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with five games to play. They are unbeaten in seven in all competitions under the Portuguese.

“Half-time, everything changed,” Pereira said. “We had a conversation, trying to help them find the spaces and look for different spaces. We just said to them: ‘Even if we are losing 3-0, I believe with you and our supporters we can do it; we are just losing 1-0 and just need to score two goals to win.’

"They scored four and I am very happy. The supporters deserve a lot and this win was important. But the next one is the most important because it is the next chance to get points again.”
