Vitor Pereira 'offer' emerges amid Nottingham Forest contract talks

Nottingham Post · Sarah Clapson

The Portuguese picked up the reins at the City Ground in February and has another 12 months remaining on his contract. He is in talks with the Reds over a new deal, having made a significant impact since his appointment.

However, according to talkSPORT, Al-Hilal are interested in snapping him up. It is claimed they are prepared to offer Pereira “a significant wage” in a bid to lure him from Forest.

Pereira has already had two stints managing in Saudi Arabia during his career. He was at the helm of Al-Ahli for the 2013/14 season and then spent 10 months with Al-Shabab a decade later, prior to his spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The report by talkSPORT suggests Al-Hilal are considering their options as Simone Inzaghi is “set to leave” after one season in charge. Pereira is said to be of interest as a potential replacement.

The 57-year-old became Forest’s fourth head coach of the 2025/26 season when he took over from Sean Dyche. He steered the Reds to Premier League survival and also led them to the Europa League semi-finals.

Speaking after his side’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on the final day of the campaign, Pereira intimated there would be little difficulty reaching an agreement with the club over a new deal. Talks had already started by then and a meeting with the Reds hierarchy was planned for after the season had finished.

"I will have a meeting,” Pereira said at the time. “They want that I stay, I want to stay. It's not difficult to find an agreement."

Prior to that, Pereira had confirmed discussions had already taken place regarding a new deal. He had said: “Yes, of course. If not, it is impossible to start speaking about pre-season, about the future, about the players.

“About the contract, we’ll do it, for sure. But I’m not worried about it because the most important thing is to start to align everything and to discuss everything; to know we are on the same page.”
