Which clubs Argyle's 2025/26 women's team players are at now

Argyle released all of their under contract players due to cost-cutting measures, after narrowly missing out on promotion to Women's Super League 2 (WSL2), while Marie Hourihan left her role as head coach.

The Greens had lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the WSL2 Play-Off at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium in early May.

That followed a season in which they finished as runners-up to Watford in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division and were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth in the FA WNL Cup Final.

Wolves, Watford and Bournemouth have all signed former Argyle players this summer to strengthen their squads.

Midfielder Layla Proctor joined Wolves, who will be competing in WSL2, the second tier of English women's football, in the forthcoming campaign.

Attacking players Ellie Noble and Phoebie Poole will also be in WSL2, in their cases with Watford, while Bournemouth, who finished third in the FA WNL Southern Premier Division last term, have added Caitlin Smith and Tamara Willcock to their squad.

Bournemouth have also signed goalkeeper Ella Stowell, who was at Argyle in 205/26 on a dual registration from Bristol City.

Portsmouth, who were relegated from WSL2 last season, have brought in goalkeeper Hermione Cull as well as defenders Arabella Suttie and Katie Wilson from Argyle, while Rosin Kivel has returned to her former club, Stoke City.

Exeter City have also added long-serving Pilgrims' pair Giota Papaioannou and Charlotte Whitmore to their squad for the FA WNL Southern Premier Division campaign.

Argyle, who appointed Matt Green as their new head coach, announced the signing of defender Ellie Bishop from Norwich City last week.

Goalkeeper Olivia Giles, who spent the last two seasons at Exeter, and Bridgwater United captain Hanan Bennett have also been brought in by the Greens.

Several players from Argyle's under-18s squad will be stepping up into the first team ranks in 2026/27 - Sienna Gilbert, Chloe Ingrouille, Shana Dolbel, Saskia Worrall, Aimee Walters, Kennedy Garside and Farrah Ambrose.
