QPR’s unbeaten start to the Championship season came to an end as they were beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player.

Denied Tommy Conway with a smart save and his excellent distribution was on display again, setting up a chance for Koki Saito.

Conway’s chance came after Mbengue had given the ball away – and it wasn’t the right-back’s only lapse. He was energetic but lacked quality.

Generally very good, but Will Lankshear reacted quicker than the R’s captain to score the winning goal, pouncing at the far post.

Was caused some problems by Boro’s lively attack early on but settled into the game before going off in the second half.

Useful going forward and a superb block thwarted the dangerous Lankshear early in the second half.

Did a steady job in midfield and when he moved back to his preferred centre-half position in the second half.

Generally poor. Sloppy on the ball at times. But he came alive late on and hit the woodwork with a thumping strike.

Lively in spells, and a threat cutting in from the right on his left foot, but Boro contained him well.

Worked hard on the flank but offered little in terms of a threat – and lost a key challenge when Callum Brittain beat him to set up the goal.

Looked laboured up front and then went off injured. Is enduring an unhappy start to the season.

Replaced the injured Ilias Chair after 14 minutes. Took up some clever central positions and played his part in Rangers’ second-half performance.

Further established himself as QPR’s first-choice number nine. Kone, even before being injured, was unimpressive again, whereas Burrell transformed Rangers’ attack, putting Boro on the back foot for the second half with his pace and directness. Denied by a superb challenge from Neto Borges as he was about to shoot.

Another lively outing.

Also made an impact after coming on.

Again looked the part in midfield after his introduction.
