SAINTS signing George Long labelled number one Daniel Peretz "fantastic" as he vowed to help the whole squad battle for promotion this season.
Long, who spent last campaign on loan at St Mary's, has penned a two-year deal to complete a free transfer from Championship rivals Norwich City.
The 32 year old's only appearance was in an FA Cup fourth-round 2-1 win over Leicester City, but he ended the season as the second-choice keeper.
Long will be a back-up once again following the permanent acquisition of Peretz this month, and it is a role he is prepared to fully embrace.
"Dan's been unbelievable since he's come in. I think everyone's seen the quality he's got. The saves he's made at important times," said Long.

"This is the difference between big three points or coming away with nothing, so I think Dan's been excellent. His character as well around the place.
"He's such a great guy, full of energy, full of positive energy as well. It's fantastic to have him sign for the club on a permanent basis as well.
"Floody's been incredible for me personally too. His coaching style, his goalkeeping fundamentals that he's been instilling in the group and me.
"He's stepped up from the under-21s, and I can't credit him enough for improving me. Obviously, fans won't have seen too much of me.
"It's mostly been on the training pitch, but I think that puts me in good stead when I'm called upon. Hopefully there'll be some more game time as well.
"I've got a lot of games under my belt. I think there probably aren't too many scenarios I haven't seen in English football, including promotion chases.
"I've been in relegation scraps and somewhere in between. I feel like all the lads would be able to come to me for advice or ask my opinion on anything.
"I like to be able to help. Anyone in the squad who might need either a helping hand, a bit of encouragement or a pat on the back. It's a role I enjoy."
