Reported Saints target Ahmedhodzic completes transfer to Championship rivals

Daily Echo · By Alfie House

The 27 year old Bosnia international centre-back has signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor after leaving Dutch top division outfit Feyenoord.

Saints had been among the clubs to have expressed interest in Ahmedhodzic, who returns to the Championship a year after leaving Sheffield United.

He was likely an option considered by the club should they need to replace Taylor Harwood-Bellis, after rejected bids from Benfica and Aston Villa.

The defender was also wanted by the Blades, having played a key role in their most recent promotion to the Premier League in 2023.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Ahmedhodzic said. “I’ve played at Turf Moor against Burnley before and it’s always been a really good atmosphere.

“I know the Championship from my time in the league, and I’m looking forward to using my experience to help the team. I can’t wait to get started.”

Ahmedhodzic made 36 appearances for Feyenoord across the Eredivisie and Europa League during his spell in Rotterdam last season.
