Luka Modric could play for Swansea City at 41 - I hope he's making the calls

Wales Online · Tom Coleman

Alan Hutton played with Modric for three years, and says that despite his advancing years, the World Cup finalist still has the ability needed to make an impact as a player.

However, he admits a move to south Wales looks unlikely.

Modric became a minority investor in the Swans back in April last year, in a shock move that made him the first of several celebrity investors. To get the latest Swans news from WalesOnline in your search results, click here to add WalesOnline as a preferred source on Google

Rapper Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart are among the other investors to have come on board since Modric's involvement was confirmed.

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two-three:

The former Real Madrid star, who is currently on the books at AC Milan, is yet to visit the Swansea.com Stadium, but Hutton believes his involvement will be a huge benefit to the Welsh side, even going so far as to suggest he could still play a key role as a player under Vitor Matos.

"Luka Modric probably could run games for Swansea at 41," he told FootballPredictions.com.

"I still remember him when he first came to Tottenham for about sixteen million and it took him a little time to kind of bed in and things, but when he got going, I've never seen a player like it.

"So comfortable, so cultured, outside of the right foot, left foot, he could do everything.

"And to still be playing, with everything that he's done in his career to this point, to still want to be involved is quite incredible."

But while Hutton thinks the ageless Croatian has the ability to pull the strings in a Swans midfield, he doesn't see him pulling on a Swans shirt any time soon.

Even so, he hopes the veteran will be given the chance to have an input on footballing decisions at the club.

"Do I think he'll go and play with Swansea? No, I don't. That's my honest opinion.

"But to be invested in a football club, I hope that he would have a say in it because he's got so much to give in terms of his knowledge and what he's done in the past.

"So it's brilliant to see."
