Ngakia set for weeks on the sidelines with hamstring injury

Watford right-back Jeremy Ngakia is set for weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, Ed Still has revealed.

Ngakia missed Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday with an injury he picked up during the 2-1 win at Bristol City at the end of last month, when he scored the winner.

The Hornets hoped it was a minor issue but further inspection has shown that the 25-year-old is unlikely to play before the March international break at least.

Still said: "Ngakia is going to be a few weeks away.

"He tweaked something in the game away in Bristol. We got him back out on the pitch but it was too early and the scans have shown he's going to be away for a few weeks."

"I don't know exactly if it's going to be more like two or four weeks, we're taking it day by day with him to see how he reacts.

"It will be a question of weeks."

The injury presents Still with an issue at right-back, where he also lost Jeremy Petris to a dislocated shoulder during Tuesday's disappointing 0-0 draw at Hillsborough.

James Abankwah filled in for the remainder of that game and will presumably continue to do so if Petris is not able to recover for the game at Stoke City on Saturday.

It adds to a lengthy list of absences in the wide areas, with wingers Kwadwo Baah and Othmane Maamma also out.

Still said: "It looks like a shoulder injury [for Petris].

"It looks like it's popped out, so we need to work out how serious it was, but he was in a lot of pain there.

"We know the situation of the wingers so I think it's massive credit to the squad to still be pushing and creating as many chances as we created, despite all of those injuries and players missing."
