Predicting Ed Still

Watford Observer · By Adam Drury

The end of the season is nigh, with Watford's final away game of the campaign coming at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Ed Still has a near fully-fit squad to pick from for the trip to Teesside and this is how he could line up.

Selvik is hardly in sensational form but it's hard to imagine a change being made at this stage.

Having played most of the second half on Tuesday night, Ngakia could return to the XI for this one.

He was name-checked by Ed Still as one of the leaders in the dressing room ahead of the game.

So was Pollock, whose performance levels have gone down but remains a crucial part of the squad.

He is a fixture at the back.

Abankwah will likely join him, despite a difficult evening at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.

This is probably Watford's first-choice pairing.

Bola was also back on the pitch last Saturday and talked up for a return to the XI.

If Still can get this back four on the field, it should result in a defensive improvement.

It was understood Louza was not injured for Tuesday's match at West Brom, though Still claimed afterwards he had not been fully fit.

Regardless, he will likely return for this one.

Mendy's form has also nosedived but Edo Kayembe just doesn't suit this position and Pierre Ekwah has only just returned from France.

The Senegalese is the likeliest to start.

Baah hasn't started a match since November but Still may as well give him a go here.

Nestory Irankunda was a long way short of his recent standards in midweek.

Honestly, who knows, but Kayembe has tended to start when he's fit and I think this position suits him better than the deeper one.

Maamma has lacked sharpness since returning but naturally demands possession and is the best attacking outlet.

A start down the left is likely.

Kjerrumgaard has been Still's first-choice pick, despite some pretty poor displays.

It wouldn't be a shock if Mamadou Doumbia or even Vivaldo Semedo got a go, though.

Baxter, Keben, Petris, Bove, Ince, Chakvetadze, Irankunda, Nabizada, Doumbia
