Released striker Adeyemo attracting interest from both sides of the border

Tobi Adeyemo, who will leave Watford when his contract expires at the end of this month, is attracting interest from English, Scottish and overseas clubs.

Adeyemo will be available on a free transfer this summer, with League Two clubs Rotherham United and Newport County candidates to sign him, a source close to the player has told The Watford Observer.

League One outfit AFC Wimbledon are also looking at Adeyemo, while Scottish Premiership side Motherwell and another European club have initiated contact.

The striker spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Crawley Town, for whom he scored once as they survived relegation into non-league.

He etched his name into Watford's record books aged 17 when he scored on his league debut against Blackpool in January 2023, becoming just the second player in the club's history to net without ever starting a match for them.

The forward only appeared three more times after that famous strike, though, with a series of injuries disrupting his path into the first team.

The 20-year-old made his return for the Under-21s last season but the club's decision to withdraw that team from official competition heading into 2026/27 means opportunities there will be limited.

In starting Crawley's last seven matches of the season, however, Adeyemo showed enough for a number of other EFL clubs to take an interest.

His next steps will be confirmed once he becomes a free agent in a few weeks' time.
