Just like in last weekend's win over Southampton, the Hornets chucked their bodies on the line to secure a point and played with a spirit that was sorely lacking at the end of last season.

The core of players that began pre-season in June have formed the basis of the side that has taken four points from two tough opening games, with new signings like Iker Bravo adding to the dynamic.

And Dionisi spoke with pride after another wholehearted effort.

He said: "I am very, very happy with the result.

"It was difficult for us to play against Wrexham because they are a physical, good team with a lot of experience.

"Today my team played well in the first half, went 1-0 up, and were very good.

"In the second half I was very happy because my team stayed compact, the defensive phase was good.

"Probably in two or three situations with the ball it was not good, but that's normal when we are tired.

"I'm happy because at the start [of pre-season] we were a few players, we weren't a team.

"Now we are a team. We are a team on the pitch, we are a team in the dressing room, we are a team at the training ground.

"It's important because inside the team are a lot of young players and it's not easy to play against good teams with more experience."

Iker Bravo was the star of the show for the Hornets but Dionisi did not want to focus on individual performances, instead focusing on a decent return from the first two games of the campaign.

He said: "I agree [Bravo played well] but it's not important to speak about one player.

"I speak for my team and for our supporters because today we have four points.

"It's not easy in this moment because we have some tired players, who arrived late, and young players in the team.

"I'm very happy. Iker played well but everyone played well for me. We stayed together on the pitch, we were compact."
