West Brom star reveals 'go for the kill' order ahead of crucial home matches

George Campbell has promised Albion plan to “go for the kill” in this week’s huge home double-header.

The Baggies host Southampton on Wednesday, before welcoming Hull on Saturday, desperate for wins to boost their bid for Championship survival.

Albion will drop back into the bottom three if Leicester avoid defeat at home to Bristol City on Tuesday and Campbell, who scored his third goal of the season to salvage a point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield United, says the Baggies are ready to go on the front foot at The Hawthorns.

“We are going to need every point we can get,” he said. “Mozza (interim boss James Morrison), told us in the locker room that at home we need to go for it, kill these teams and pick up three points.

“We are going to need energy and quality on the ball. That will help us get the points we need.“Southampton are a good team and will try to press us.

“We need to be composed and run for each other, tackle for each other.”

Morrison, who made 341 appearances for Albion as a player, has been tasked with hauling them out of relegation danger, following Eric Ramsay’s sacking after just 44 days in charge.

Campbell, who impressed after being switched to centre-back for the draw with the Blades, reckons the midfielder has what it takes to steer the Baggies to safety.

“He knows the players well and he has been at the club a long time,” he said.

“Through that he knows what it takes to be a player and get behind us as a coach now.

“He knows where to put players, where we are best to give us individual confidence on the pitch to go and express ourselves.”
