The Athletic claims that talks between Andoni Iraola's side and the French club are integral to resolving the summer saga, with Barcola keen on a move to Merseyside.

Liverpool view the winger as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah following his departure from Anfield earlier this year.

Arsenal are also admirers of the 23-year-old, with the Gunners looking to strengthen their forward line following Leandro Trossard's departure, and Gabriel Martinelli is on the brink of a move to Saudi Arabia.

Barcola is one of the players to be linked with a move to Emirates Stadium, though it'll take a huge fee to see him move to the Premier League.

The report claims PSG are holding out for a fee in the region of £145million, while Liverpool are looking to pay closer to the £100million mark.

Barcola has two years remaining on his current contract with the back-to-back Champions League winners, but has made it clear he won't extend his stay in Paris.

The French international scored 13 goals and notched seven assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for PSG last season, playing a key role in them retaining their European crown and the Ligue 1 title.

Barcola predominantly plays on the left-hand side of the attack - hence Arsenal's interest - but can also play on the opposite flank, which ticks a box for Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta and Arsenal will make a move for the Frenchman in the final few days of the window, with reports claiming they're plotting a blockbuster move for Julian Alvarez.

Barcelona had been keen on signing the Argentinian international, with Alvarez making it clear he wanted to join Hansi Flick's side.

However, the La Liga outfit don't want to sell to a direct rival, though Alvarez's comments have not endeared him with the Atletico Atletico faithful.

"I spoke with the people at (Atletico) I needed to speak with, and the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream," he said.

"It's ‌not the time ‌to talk about this, but I also can't ‌hide it. I try to be an honest person."

The former Manchester City striker was booed and jeered on his return to La Liga action, helping Simeone's side draw 2-2 with Villarreal on Sunday.

This introductory offer saves £384 compared to the standard price, with every package also providing 100 regular channels alongside free Netflix and discovery+ subscriptions.
