Two years ago at the Euros, McGinn turned up for his first day in camp in Bavaria and made headlines around the world by getting dressed up in Lederhosen and doing a funny dance, wearing a silly hat.

It turned out to be the only highlight for McGinn and Steve Clarke's side with a disaster of a tournament registering just one shot on target.

The Scotland camp and McGinn are focused on a better display in America and as the Villa skipper sat down for the latest press conference, it's clear he means business.

McGinn, captain of Unai Emery’s Europa League champions, will face Brazil, Haiti and Morocco in the group stage as Scotland aim to secure qualification for the knockout rounds.

“Do I regret that? Maybe," he said when reminded of his big entry in Germany a couple of years ago.

“But at that point I'm not thinking we wouldn't be successful. I had belief at that time. I just thought when you're in Germany at the time, they were looking for a volunteer and obviously this mug was number one.

“Let’s just say, there won't be much dancing getting done before this tournament. But if we manage to get through the group stages then I’ll put that outfit back on and do the dancing all over again!’
