The Prince of Wales, a well-known Aston Villa supporter, shared the light-hearted exchange with BirminghamLive’s Dan Rolinson and Mat Kendrick following the final whistle, leaving the pair stunned by just how familiar he was with their work.

When asked the question many Villa fans have joked about for months — “When are you coming on the podcast?” William smiled and replied: “I have been thinking about it,” in an exchange you can watch on YouTube.

That answer alone was enough to spark excitement among supporters, but the future king went even further when asked whether he genuinely watched the Claret and Blue podcast.

“Yes, that is why I know who you two are, I swear to god,” he said.

The future king then revealed the podcast plays a role in how he keeps up to date with Aston Villa news.

“How do you think I get most of my information? I watch you lot.”

Rolinson jokingly responded: “But we just talk rubbish.”

Without missing a beat, William laughed and replied: “You do talk rubbish.”

The conversation then turned more heartfelt as the prince addressed Kendrick directly, adding: “I read your column before today as well.

“It got me properly emotional.”

The exchange quickly delighted Villa supporters online, with fans praising William’s obvious passion and knowledge of the club.

His comments also highlighted the growing reach of BirminghamLive’s Villa coverage and the popularity of the Claret and Blue podcast among supporters across the country.

And after William admitted he has “been thinking about” appearing on the podcast, Villa fans will now be hoping the royal guest spot becomes a reality sooner rather than later.
