Blackburn Rovers' players will return on June 25th, with pre-season training set to begin in less than three weeks.

Tony Mowbray will meet his squad for the first time two weeks on Thursday, with the players back for testing.

As is customary, Rovers players often return at the end of the week for two days of conditioning checks (25th&26th). They'll then likely have the weekend off before pre-season starts properly on Monday, June 29.

The first friendly is not until July 11, giving the Rovers boss two weeks to work with the players before they face Accrington Stanley.

"They're back on the 25th," Mowbray revealed.

They're testing for a few days. So, yeah, looking forward to seeing them.

"It's basically they have to get fit, really. You know, I know modern day footballers. I was driving in this morning and listening to so-and-so and some player that he was out in a training camp with a dozen other Premier League footballers out in Greece somewhere.

"It's as if they're doing their own pre-season for pre-season because they know how important it is to be fit and ready to go and play an impact on the team very early on, not have to get fit through pre-season.

"So I hope most of this team, if not all this team, are staying fit. They're not just on a wild holiday somewhere. I've had that in the past.

"It's not my fault if you come back totally unfit and you need an extra week or two to get going behind everybody else at pre-season. So, yeah, I hope they come back in good shape.

"I hope all the little niggles and knocks that they had throughout the season have all cleared up and we can get on with it and try and find what we feel is the best balance for the team moving forward."

Rovers fly out for their summer training camp in Portugal on Sunday, July 19. They return on the 25th and then face Huddersfield Town the following weekend in their final friendly before the first round of the Carabao Cup.
