INCOMING Cherries boss Marco Rose has coached a number of the world’s top players in his career so far.

A trophy winner and European head coach in Austria and Germany, it is an impressive list of stars who have played under him.

The likes of Jude Bellingham, Benjamin Sesko, Xavi Simons, Josko Gvardiol, Dominik Szoboszlai, Erling Haaland and Dani Olmo have all been regulars in Rose’s teams.

While it would be unlikely that Bournemouth can attract, or afford, any of those players, which former players could the club go after?

The Daily Echo takes a look at the players that may fit Bournemouth's recruitment model in positions needed as well as one potentially very ambitious move.

El Chadaille Bitshiabu

A key priority for the Cherries this summer is a left-sided centre-back after the departure of Marcos Senesi.

Rose has coached some top left-footed central defenders, including Man City’s Gvardiol and then his replacement Castello Lukeba.

The former has just signed a new deal with City, while the latter is rumoured to be valued at more than £70million with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United interested.

But Bitshiabu, at 21, could be a shrewd investment.

He played under Rose at RB Leipzig, having joined from PSG, and played a role in the German’s final season at the club in the league, cup and Champions League, playing 27 times under him.

The Frenchman has made 48 total appearances for Leipzig, with 14 last season as he was behind Lukeba in the pecking order.

If Lukeba does leave this summer, Leipzig may be keen to keep a hold of Bitshiabu as a ready-made replacement, but the Cherries could look to persuade him to come across to Dorset.

This one may be a good loan move as Chelsea look to settle their squad under new boss Xabi Alonso.

Gittens, another 21-year-old, made frequent appearances for the Blues in the first half of last season, but picked up a hamstring injury which saw him miss the rest of the season from February.

If he is not immediately in Alonso’s plan, Chelsea may look to loan him out for the season to get regular minutes.

With European experience and able to play on both wings, he could be a good option.

Under Rose, Gittens made four appearances for Borussia Dortmund back in April and May 2022 at the age of 17 as the German handed the winger his senior Dortmund debut.

Arthur Vermeeren

A third 21-year-old, Vermeeren played 30 times under Rose at Leipzig in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.

While a midfielder is not necessarily top of the Cherries’ priority list, if they could get Vermeeren in for a good price, he could provide good competition there and comes with good European experience.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Vermeeren is also adept at progressing the ball and courageous in attack.

He has just completed a season in Ligue 1 with Marseille, with former boss Roberto de Zerbi reportedly interested in bringing him in at Spurs, but could Rose tempt him away from London and down to Dorset?

The American has made an impact in the World Cup already, scoring one of the USA’s four goals in their opening victory.

He featured 13 times for Rose’s Borussia Dortmund team, scoring twice and providing two assists across 648 minutes in a season disrupted by injury.

Last season, plying his trade for Borussia Monchengladbach, Reyna made 20 appearances predominantly off the bench, so he could be eyeing up a move.

A good World Cup could inflate his price, but the attacking midfielder would give some good depth to the Cherries squad, and he can be deployed on the wings if needed.

The concern would perhaps be the physicality of the Premier League, and whether Reyna could make the step up, but at 23 he has the years to develop that side of his game.

This one is a hugely ambitious move that may well be out of Bournemouth’s price range.

The Inter Milan striker will likely command a fairly significant fee, but it would be a real statement of intent from the Cherries ahead of their first season in European competition.

Any cash Inter get for the Frenchman would be pure profit after he was signed on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

It was at Gladbach where he played under Rose, making 79 appearances under the German’s coaching, scoring 25 goals and providing 21 assists as Rose helped Thuram become one of Europe's top striker prospects as a physical, but also intelligent forward.

Bournemouth will likely be in the market for a striker with Enes Unal likely to depart, and bringing in Thuram would be a huge statement from the club should they look to prise him from the Italian champions.

To do that, they would likely have to pay a club-record fee, with Thuram’s contract at Inter ending at the end of the 2027/28 season, and he would most likely become Bournemouth’s highest paid player if there was to be a move for the Frenchman.
