The Seagulls staged another comeback and this time it brought them a point in a 1-1 home draw with Leeds.

Their previous outing had seen them losing 3-0 before giving Chelsea a few nervous moments in a 4-3 defeat.

Verbruggen kept his side in the Leeds game, then saw Luka Vuskovic head home to salvage a point.

But, while he has enjoyed their reactions to adversity, he said they cannot keep playing catch-up.

The Seagulls goalkeeper said: “Of course after you go behind it’s better one point than zero.

“But it’s frustrating because, in the first half, I think we didn’t play our own game and I think we lost two points.

“We have to find an answer for why.

“The positive is the reaction from the team. To come back from losing is not easy.

“We did that very well but we have to find an answer why we didn’t start very well.

“If you compare this game and Chelsea to the starts against Aston Villa and Tromso (both 4-0 wins with early goals), it is not the same,

“I don’t know why but we have to find a reason because we are such a good football team.

“When we bring our energy and intensity, I think it's very hard to beat us and nobody wants to play us.

“But that needs to be on a consistent level.”

Albion now have a week between fixtures ahead three games in seven days.

Conference League fixtures kick in from mid-October.,

Verbruggen said: “It’s a big challenge to go into Europe, a lot of games.

“But, if we can do that in every game, we can do some very nice things.”
