And he showed great resilience to respond with the goal which saved Albion a point.

That was the verdict from former Chelsea and Benfica defender Scott Minto after watching the 1-1 draw with Leeds at the Amex.

Vuskovic needed to leave the pitch and change his shirt early in the game following a clash with Calvert-Lewin.

The Leeds frontman had a couple of great chances and was unmarked when he played a big part in his team’s goal.

But Vuskovic celebrated on front of the North Stand when he scored in only his third Premier Leage game.

Minto told talkSPORT: “He knows what it is like to play against an old-fashioned centre-forward now.

“He would have learnt a lot from this particular game.

“He had a cut lip, he was on the floor a couple of times.

“But fair play to him for scoring the equaliser and having that resilience.

“Strong player but he won’t come up against any stronger centre-forwards in the way Calvert-Lewin played.”

Minto said Vuskovic’s new head coach shows similar never-say-die spirit.

He added: “What I like about Fabian Hurzeler is, even when they were 3-0 down (at Chelsea) and the cameras panned to him, there wasn’t an air of resignation, like ‘Okay this isn’t going to be our day’.

“There was like anger, this ‘No, we can get back into it’.

“You could tell there was belief (against Leeds) and, in the end, Brighton came back into it.

“The stats will definitely show, more so the second half, that they deserved to win.

“With that chance right at the end, Pascal Gross getting it over from six yards, they could and should have got the win.

“But I think that would have been harsh on Daniel Farke and Leeds.”
