Diego Gomez and Maxim De Cuyper were stood down from the trip to Jablonec in the Conference League.

Jason Steele also missed the match but that was due to illness.

Gomez and De Cuyper have been Albion’s starting widemen in the Premier League but were left at home this time to rest

Lewis Dunk and Charalampos Kostoulas did not get off the bench and Ferdi Kadioglu only played the last few minutes.

Fabian Hurzeler made eight changes to his last XI but only one alteration to his most recent side in the Conference League in terms of personnel.

That saw Jaouen Hadjam start rather than Dunk with Olivier Boscagli switching to left-sided centre-back.

Hurzeler will update on his squad on Friday morning after Albion have headed straight back to Lancing.

He will have been given little in terms of food for thought as he selects a side to start at Liverpool on Sunday, although Jack Hinshelwood, in the No.10 role, got into some good positions at times and tested the goalkeeper very early on.

Despite the fact Albion were chasing the game, Hurzeler took off playmaker-in-chief Pascal Gross midway through the second half, along with Hinshelwood, Boscagli and Matt O’Riley.
