Jack Hinshelwood said he is even more motivated after making Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup long-list.

But his priority is a good pre-season and a full campaign with Albion.

As referenced previously by The Argus, Hinshelwood was named along with Danny Welbeck in Tuchel’s 55-man squad ahead of the World Cup finals.

He did not make the 26-man final group but will follow the competition with interest during a close-season break.

He is delighted that England boss Tuchel is aware of his qualities and likes what he is doing with the Seagulls.

Hinshelwood said: “I haven't heard from him but I was included in the long-list, which was nice.

“It was a nice recognition for my hard work and I think that has given me a bit of motivation now to know that they see what I'm doing.

“I focus on Brighton and having a good full season for Brighton, because I'm still yet to do that.

“So I really want to start pre-season well and continue what I've done this season and put that into a full season.”

Hinshelwood was sidelined for more than two month this season by an ankle injury suffered in unfortunate circumstances at Bournemouth.

But he returned with what turned out to be a precious winning goal at home to Brentford.

He spent part of last summer playing as an inverted left-back for the England side who won the under-21s Euros in Slovakia.

That versatility and footballing intelligence are reasons why he is highly thought of in the England set-up.

But he pulled out of the most recent under-21s camp to help him recover from a minor injury ahead of his club’s trip to Burnley.
