Despite the eye-catching action across the Atlantic, the managerial merry-go-round is still spinning, both in the EFL and north of the border.

Fortunately for Bristol City, their name was taken out of the equation late last month when Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala put pen to paper on a three-year deal to succeed Roy Hodgson in the Ashton Gate dugout.

Robins supporters can now look ahead to the 2026/27 campaign with a sense of optimism, rather than uncertainty. The same can perhaps also be said for both Wolves and Watford fans, with both of City's league rivals appointing new managers this week.

Wolves have named Cesar Peixoto as their new boss after what, from the outside looking in, have been a dramatic couple of weeks at Molineux. Following the club's relegation from the Premier League, both Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez were confirmed to be moving to the Midlands this summer; two deals that Rob Edwards explained through in-house media channels.

However, no sooner was the ink dry on both contracts than it was announced, after some speculation, that Edwards had been sacked after just seven months.

It had been widely reported at that stage that former Moreirense, Gil Vicente and F.C. Paços de Ferreira manager Peixoto would be the man to succeed him. The Portuguese boss has now put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Molineux, with a return to the Premier League the ultimate aim.

Speaking to Wolves' media team, the 46-year-old said, "I’m proud to be here at this big, historic club in England. It’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m prepared to do everything to put Wolves where it belongs in the Premier League."

Like the Molineux club, Watford have looked overseas for their latest manager. The Hornets were on the hunt for a fourth permanent manager in a little over a year, with Ed Still sacked at Vicarage Road after just three months in charge, following the end of the Championship season.

Alessio Dionisi is the man chosen to guide the Hornets into the new campaign. During his career, the Italian has managed the likes of Sassuolo, Palermo and, most recently, Empoli. Dionisi was sacked by the Tuscan club in March, having won just five of his 22 matches.

"Alessio has been on our radar for a long period, and we are really pleased to have reached an agreement with him," Watford sporting director Gian Luca Nani said via the club's website. "We made it clear we were looking for an experienced coach who has won leagues and been promoted - and Alessio fits the profile. "

In League One, Leicester City on Monday evening confirmed the appointment of Russell Martin as the Foxes' new manager. The former Saints boss had been one of the bookmakers' initial favourites to take over at Ashton Gate, prior to the appointment of Skubala in late May.

One man with ties to south Bristol who also appears set to be on the move this summer is Derek McInnes. The 54-year-old spent a little over a year or so in charge in the West Country between October 2011 and January 2013

In his first campaign with the Robins, McInnes was able to keep City in the Championship, but he departed BS3 with the Reds seven points adrift of safety in the 2012-13 season. Ultimately, they were relegated under the management of Sean O'Driscoll.

McInnes has since gone on to have plenty of success in Scotland with Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and, most recently, Hearts. Having taken the Scottish Premiership title race with Celtic into the final day of the season, the 54-year-old is reportedly in line to join Rangers, with Danny Rohl set to take over RB Salzburg.

'Derek McInnes has agreed a deal in principle to become the new Rangers boss,' Sky Sports News reports. 'Final details are being ironed out, but McInnes will leave Hearts, who he guided to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last season, and sign a three-year deal at Ibrox.'
