The Reds announced on Tuesday morning that former Accrington Stanley head of coaching and Walsall Under-18s boss King had been named the club's new set-piece coach, joining the likes of Skubala, Ian Burchnall, Neil Banfield and Pat Mountain on City's coaching staff.

In his new role, King will focus on the coaching and analysis of all of the Robins' set plays, an area in which Skubala has placed great importance, both since his arrival in south Bristol this summer and in his past role at Lincoln City.

On the Reds' latest coaching addition, the City boss told the club's media team in a statement shared on Tuesday, "We are really pleased to welcome Ben to the team.

"We know his expertise can help us at both ends of the pitch, and we are looking forward to working together and improving even further on our already strong set pieces.

"Ben will continue to work closely with Pat Mountain and Luke Morgan, who have been instrumental in our success so far in that area."

King, who is just 35 years old, makes the move to the West Country after a spell as set-piece analyst at Sheffield Wednesday.

Before his recent stint at Hillsborough, the Robins' new addition held coaching roles with both Accrington Stanley and Walsall, with his latter role seeing him work with the Saddlers' academy prospects.

Discussing his new position in south Bristol, King said, "I am really pleased to be here and am looking forward to working with this talented group of players and staff.

"The Championship is extremely competitive, and we are all looking forward to the rest of the season."

King is the third new coach added to Skubala's staff since the 43-year-old's appointment as Roy Hodgson's successor all the way back in late May.

Shortly after his arrival in south Bristol, it was confirmed that former Notts County and Forest Green Rovers boss Burchnall would be joining Skubala on the Ashton Gate touchline as his assistant. At the same time, it was announced that Craig Fleming, who had taken up such a role under both Gerhard Struber and Hodgson, would be departing BS3.

Then, in early July, it was revealed that Banfield would be the Reds' other assistant. The former Arsenal, Rangers and QPR coach appeared to have completed the Reds' staff alongside goalkeeping specialist Mountain and Alex Ball.

King's first competitive game as part of the staff in BS3 will come this Saturday, when the Robins travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday lunchtime.

The meeting with the Addicks will be City's first game after the extended international break, and will present Skubala's side with the chance to strengthen their early grip on a place in the play-off spots.
