The Robins are set to host Wolves at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening, in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Cesar Peixoto's side currently sit third in the Championship table, just four points off top spot, having beaten Cardiff City at Molinuex last time out.

City sit 11 places, but only six points adrift of their next opponents, a gap they maintained over the weekend with their dramatic win over Bolton Wanderers. The Reds ended a four-match winless run and scored their first open play goals since the international break as they won 3-2 in Lancashire.

Tolaj led the line alongside Dom Ballard at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, despite seeing his time on the training pitch in the days leading up to Saturday's win limited by a contusion on his hip.

Although such an issue is still causing the striker trouble, Skubala hopes he'll be fit to play a part under the BS3 lights, while both Rob Dickie and Elijah Adebayo are also closing in on a return from injury.

Asked if the squad came through the meeting with Bolton unscathed, the City boss told Bristol Live, "Yep. A few knocks and a few bruises. Tolly's still feeling his hip, so he was a bit sore.

"We actually had to nurse him all the way through last week's training; he had to have a lot of painkillers to play that game. He came through that great. He's been a bit nursed today, so hopefully he can make Wolves.

"We've got Rob Dickie now back in with training, and Elijah Adebayo's not too far off at all, so we're looking really healthy."

Alongside Dickie and Adebayo, Gibson Yah and Noah Eile were the only other first-team players to miss the weekend's trip to Bolton, Yah with a knock that the Robins expect to keep him sidelined for a matter of days and Eile through illness.

The Swedish defender hasn't featured for the Reds since before the extended international break, when he started alongside Rob Atkinson as City beat Watford 1-0 at Ashton Gate. A health issue has, however, limited his ability to train in the month and a half since.

While Eile is now on the road to recovery, he is still a way away from returning to the Robins' matchday squad, with the November international break likely to provide the 24-year-old with a much-needed gap between fixtures.

"Noah, it's the same situation," Skubala added. "He's still building back. He's probably the furthest away still, because of his illness, but he's doing better every day. He's back out on the grass now, as an individual.

"We've got to build him up physically, but it's good news with Noah."

After Wednesday's clash with Wolves, the Reds face the prospect of a very quick turnaround. Saturday lunchtime will see them welcome Norwich City to Ashton Gate for the final game before the international break.

In the past, with such three-game weeks, Skubala and his staff have opted to protect the likes of Joe Williams and Luke McNally - who have not long returned from their own injury issues - by opting to leave them out of starting line-ups or squads for midweek fixtures. For example, when fully fit, Williams didn't make the bench against Lincoln City back in September.

Though the Robins manager stopped short of confirming he would do similar again this week, he did concede that rotation would be required between matches, not that such a prospect is anything new to Skubala.

"I think the fixture schedule's not been too nice to us this week," the Reds boss smiled. "Because [we play] Wednesday late, Norwich play on Tuesday, and then we're 12:30pm on the Saturday, so there's definitely going to have to be rotation, and how we can about that rotation, I think that's important.

"But again, if we don't rotate when we've got a squad, there's no point having one. It's important, but again, there's also that bit around trying to keep some relationships and fluidity within the team that have been doing well.

"Again, it's the same process as always that I go through. I look at their strengths and look at their weaknesses, pick appropriate profiles that I think can hurt the opposition in certain moments of the game and then put players into those positions who we think can do the job on the day.

"That's always been my process, and it always will be my process to help us get results."
