LIVEUpdated 4 mins agoPlymouth Argyle 0-0 Bristol City LIVE: Robins head into break level with Pilgrims at Home ParkLive updates from Home Park as Michael Skubala's Bristol City face Plymouth Argyle in a pre-season friendly (2:00pm kick-off)SportDaniel CarterHello and welcome to this afternoon's live blog, where we will be bringing you live updates from Home Park and then St James Park as Bristol City and Michael Skubala face Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City in a pre-season double-header.

It has been just a couple of days since the Robins were last in action, with Tuesday's visit of Newcastle United an evening to remember. Skubala's side claimed their second friendly win of the summer as they ran out 4-1 winners against Premier League opposition at Ashton Gate.

Today, however, they finalise their preparations for the new season with a trip to Home Park. In their first friendly of the day, they will take on Tom Cleverley's Pilgrims, who finished last season eighth in League One, missing out on a place in the play-offs by just two points.

Then, the City boss and his coaching staff - as well as the press and supporters - will make the quick trip up the M5 to St James Park where Exeter will be waiting for the Robins. Matt Taylor's Grecians will ply their trade in League Two this term, having been relegated last season.

When the Reds last faced Argyle in a competitive fixture last January, the points were shared in a 2-2 draw. City haven't played Exeter City in a competitive game since September 2020, when goals from Jamie Paterson and Antoine Semenyo secured bragging rights for the Robins.

You can follow all the action as it happens across both matches here...

New UpdatesKey EventsHalf-time: Argyle 0-0 Bristol CityView PostKick-off! We're underway at Home Park!View PostBristol City team news as Michael Skubala names first team of the dayView PostToday14:57 BSTToday's attendanceThere are 7,556 inside Home Park this afternoon. 854 of those are Bristol City supporters. They'll be hoping for a better second half.

Daniel CarterToday14:47 BSTHalf-time: Argyle 0-0 Bristol CityThat was far from the best half of football Bristol City have played this pre-season, but they had back down the tunnel with the deadlock firmly intact, despite the fact that Argyle have had more than a few very good chances.

City could have scored late on through Twine, but outside of that created very little. Still, it is all about minutes in the legs and this has been a good test.

Daniel CarterToday14:47 BST45+2Twine smashes wide! That's City's best chance of the half. Knight and Randell combine well on the right side of the box, before the former chips towards the edge of the area where Scott Twine is breaking forward.

He volleys towards goal with his left foot. While he catches it well, the shot is wide of the post.

Daniel CarterToday14:46 BST45+1Two minutes addedWe actually have a fourth official today. That one injury means we'll have two minutes extra in the first-half.

Daniel CarterToday14:43 BST44Argyle cornerTanner is forced to clear a cross from the right flank behind for an Argyle corner.... It is whipped towards the near post where Tolaj is able to do enough to win the Reds a goal kick.

Daniel CarterToday14:42 BST42Off the post! That's the closest we've come to an opener so far. Argyle win a throw in front of the dugouts and take it quickly to catch the Robins napping.

A bit of fortune allows Oseni to break into the penalty area and from the right side of the box, he fires a low shot towards the near post. It may have had Tickle beaten, but it was kept out by the woodwork.

Daniel CarterToday14:39 BST39Bird stabs wide!Greenwood takes the corner short quickly before Pring crosses into the area, in search of Dickie at the back post. Argyle do enough to clear the initial danger, but Knight recycles possession before crossing back in from the right.

After a bit of park football in the box, the ball lands at the feet of Bird, who stabs wide of the post.

Daniel CarterToday14:38 BST38City cornerPring's chipped ball in search of Tolaj is cleared behind for a City corner. Greenwood to take...

Daniel CarterToday14:36 BST36Pepple is getting a talking toThe Argyle forward fouls Dickie deep in the City half, right in front of the assistant, and isn't happy with the decision. He makes that known and - I think - kicks the ball away.

The referee isn't impressed by that and pulls him to one side for a quick talking to. No cards; it is pre-season after all.

Daniel CarterToday14:32 BST32Change for ArgyleYou never want to see anyone go off injured in pre-season, but the Bristol City backline have probably had enough of Baidoo he's been that lively.

He can't continue and is replaced by Amaechi.

Daniel CarterToday14:31 BST31How have Argyle not scored!?This is almost an onslaught here. Curtis is the latest to miss the target from a good position as he shapes to curl a left-footed shot from the right of the area into the top left corner.

His shot is over the bar and we will have a quick break in play as Baidoo gets some treatment.

Daniel CarterToday14:29 BST27White goes close again!I have to say, this has been good from the home side. City twice do well to clear a long throw from the right wing, but the second effort only ends up as far as White some 35-yards from goal. He shoots on the volley, and it is only just wide.

Moments later, Argyle have a corner.... which Tolaj heads clear.

Daniel CarterToday14:27 BST27Oseni goes close again! These crosses are causing Bristol City an awful lot of problems. This time, the hosts cross high towards the back post from the left wing and it lands on the head of Oseni.

He gets up well, but guides his shot wide of the post. Tickle has barely had a save to make, despite all of these openings.

Green shirts are queing up to turn home, but no-one can get the vital touch. In the end, a foul is given for a challenge on Tickle, who is back to his feet in his own time.

Daniel CarterToday14:23 BST23White smashes wideThis is a more speculative attempt. After a spell of Argyle possession, White hears cries of shoot from the home crowd and tries his luck from some 35 yards. Tickle watches it well, but it is well wide of the goal.

Daniel CarterToday14:22 BST22Another big chance for the hostsArgyle really should be ahead here. The hosts attack down the left flank once more and stand a floated cross towards the back post where Pepple is stationed ahead of Pring.

He rises high into the air to meet the cross, but can only guide his effort over the bar. He had to hit the target there.

Daniel CarterToday14:20 BST20Foul on TwineCity's number 10 has been getting the treatment today. Having looked to buy a foul a moment ago, he is this time pushed to the ground on the halfway line and wins a free-kick.

Moments later, a Cam Pring cross from the left wing flies over everyone on the way out for a goal kick.

Daniel CarterToday14:17 BST17Argyle go close!Baidoo is the next in green to try his luck. A long ball from Cooper is flicked in-field and City are unable to deal with it on the edge of their own area. Despite being under pressure from Tanner, Baidoo is able to fashion enough space to get a shot away.

It has Tickle rooted to the spot, but, to the keeper's delight, ends up the wrong side of the post as it thumps into the side-netting.

Daniel CarterToday14:15 BST16Argyle corner shout ignoredThe hosts curl a cross into the City area from the left wing and, I have to say, it looked as though Cam Pring's head diverted it behind for what Argyle feel should have been a corner.

The referee and assistant disagrees. Goal kick.

Daniel CarterToday14:13 BST13Tolaj heads overIt is Greenwood who takes the resulting corner and the midfielder fires a low cross towards the front post where Tolaj has fashioned himself some space.

His intention is to flick this towards the goal, but he catches too much of it and it loops up and over for a goal kick.

Daniel CarterToday14:12 BST12Foul on EissatCam Pring is in some pain here after a coming together on the left flank and with the defender down, Argyle look to launch an attack. It comes to nothing as Eissat is fouled.

At the other end, the Reds counter and win a corner...

Daniel CarterToday14:10 BST10Knight gets that pass wrongCity were enjoying a lengthy spell of possession here, most of which had come inside the Argyle half, but they've given up the ball now. Knight looks to unleash Pring down the left, but over-hits his pass, which races out of play for a throw.

Daniel CarterToday14:06 BST7Big tackle from EissatThat is a very good piece of defending. Tickle is caught out slightly as City lose the ball when he's a long way away from his goalmouth, but Eissat reads the passage well to slide in and win possession.

He's started well here.

Daniel CarterToday14:04 BST4Pring's cut-back comes to nothingSome good fortune and then good work from Pring and Bird sees the latter fashion some space to run on the left flank. As he nears the touchline, he cuts back to the edge of the area.

No in red and white is stationed there, so Argyle win the ball and clear the danger.

Daniel CarterToday14:02 BST2Big miss from Argyle! The home side should be ahead. Pepple is played behind Rob Dickie who is caught the wrong side of his man. He holds the forward up, but he still gets a shot away with his left foot.

He's aiming for the bottom right corner, but scuffs it just wide of the post.

Daniel CarterToday14:00 BST1Kick-off! We're underway at Home Park! Here we go then! For the penultimate time this pre-season, we are underway. Bristol City - who are in red and white today - are attacking away from the travelling fans in the first half. There's a good following down here.

Home Park is far from busy, but it is a good turnout for a pre-season game. The Robins - or at least these Robins - will be keen to finish the summer on a win.

You can follow all the action, as it happens, here...

Daniel CarterToday13:58 BSTHere come the teamsIt feels like we're flying through the formalities today. Anyone would think the Robins have somewhere else to be later this evening...

Enough of my attempts at jokes, let's focus on the action. Both sets of players are now making their way out of the tunnel and onto the Home Park pitch ahead of kick-off.

That will be what comes next...

Daniel CarterToday13:48 BSTThat's that for the warm-upWell we're only quarter of an hour or so from getting underway at Home Park and that fact signals the end of Bristol City's warm-up. Behind Jason Knight, the Robins make their way past the away end and back down the tunnel.

There's a good amount of City fans here today, considering this is the first and furthest away of today's two matches.

Daniel CarterToday13:43 BSTWho will be on free-kicks today? Now here is the real question. Both Scott Twine and Sam Greenwood are on the pitch at the same time, so who is going to take Bristol City's free-kicks this afternoon?

Greenwood will no doubt fancy his chances after Wednesday night, but there aren't many people who can push Twine away from a dead-ball. It will be interesting to see.

Daniel CarterToday13:36 BSTAlex Ball working with the youngstersThe Bristol City coach has found himself working with what is an incredibly young selection of subs today, while the rest of the team - including Elijah Morrison - continue their warm-up.

The Robins' entire bench is made up of academy prospects, and Lewis Thomas, today.
