# Why Derby star Agyemang could save Coventry City a £40m transfer headache

Agyemang has had a standout campaign in the Championship following his move to Derby from Charlotte FC last summer having scored 10 goals following his £5.9m move to England.

An Achilles injury has ruled him out until Christmas, but speculation has already seen him linked with Dorigo's former club and Crystal Palace.

Despite Agyemang being sidelined, it has done little to quell speculation about the forward who has been widely tipped as a Premier League striker in the making after an impressive debut season.

And Dorigo says that for clubs like Leeds, Coventry and Ipswich, he is a player that could save them a substantial amount.

"Any time you get a striker scoring goals and trying to pick up a bit of a bargain, because that's the difficulty, trying to get a striker in the local market for the Premier League - you're talking £30 to 40 million," he told Goal.

"So, trying to pick up someone that's on the way up, going to improve, will be attractive, no doubt.

"You look at the likes of last season's Sunderland and how many players they bought and they got a lot of that right. There'll be other teams out there thinking, 'OK, we have got to try and do the same'.

"You look at Coventry, Ipswich, whoever else comes up, they're going to have to have big, big changes in their squads as well. So it'll be interesting to see who they go for. But I'm sure he'll be on the list of players."

Agyemang had looked to be a good bet to make the USA international squad for this summer's World Cup until he ruptured his Achilles in a win against Stoke.

But former Sky Blues midfielder John Eustace has been pleased with how the striker has developed since he moved to Derby.

"Obviously, he's not very happy and devastated to be missing the World Cup," he said.

"Patrick's been a real focal point for us. His development this year has been outstanding and it's going to be a huge blow to us, first and foremost, and to miss the World Cup.

"He's worked his socks off to try to get into that squad and I think he was very close. It's part of the job, part of being a footballer, in the fact that you're going to have some highs and you're going to have lots of lows.

"It's really important now that the Derby County family will get right behind him which I know they will.

"The lads have been magnificent with him, and I know the fans have sent him some great messages as well, and that's really important. He'll come back, and he'll come back stronger."
