Jayden Bogle has revealed how featuring for Derby County in the memorable 2019 Championship play-off semi-final at Elland Road ultimately influenced his decision to sign for Leeds United.

Bogle was in Frank Lampard's starting line-up that evening, several months after the Spygate controversy had emerged. Leeds ultimately lost the tie 4-3 on aggregate, despite having claimed a 1-0 victory at Pride Park in the first leg.

Coincidentally, new signing Harry Wilson netted what proved to be the crucial goal of the semi-final from the penalty spot. Bogle described the Derby changing room as 'carnage' following the final whistle, but also recalls the atmosphere generated by the home supporters throughout the match.

"I remember walking out at Elland Road and just that wow, the atmosphere was unbelievable. Especially with how the first leg went as well, the fans were right up for it, so it was like wow. It just erupted [when Leeds scored].", reports Leeds Live.

To get it, it's a simple one-two punch.

He added: "And then at the end of the game it was just more of just relief, I think, with how the game went and how everyone invested so much into it, both teams as well.

"You could see how much it meant to us, but how devastated they were as well. And yeah, you could just feel a lot of emotion in the game."

The full-back has flourished at Leeds following his transfer, and is regarded as excellent value at £5million.

Bogle signed a new deal this summer, securing his future at Elland Road until 2030. Despite having two years remaining on his previous contract, Leeds were determined to commit the 26-year-old to an extended spell, such is his importance.

The defender is seven matches away from notching 100 outings for the Whites, and is presently on course to achieve that milestone away at Liverpool on December 12 should he feature in each fixture until then.

Reflecting on how he felt upon his first appearance for Leeds, Bogle said: "It's a different feeling. Just special. Walking out and the support that we get week in week out is unbelievable."

Bogle also revealed how the atmosphere at Elland Road during that play-off encounter with Derby proved a significant factor in him joining Leeds.

"That [crowd] was the first thing I thought of," he said when asked about his reaction when United came in for him.

"I can still picture it walking out the tunnel [for Derby]. Everyone, scarves and flags up, and it was just loud. And then when the goal went in as well, the place just erupted.

"So yeah, as soon as I heard Leeds were interested [in a transfer], that was it for me."
